This is the case where Mermaids challenged the Charity Commission's decision to give charitable status to the LGBA.

Don't have any more detail at the moment, but thought you'd all be interested. It's been a four month wait already.

I know, this is making me so anxious, is it a bad sign?

aseriesofstillimages · 06/07/2023 10:06

If they’re handing down the judgment in person they may be making submissions re application for permission to appeal

Tallisker · 06/07/2023 10:06

Unfortunately, there are loads who don't want to know anything related to FWR, and throw a hissy fit whenever we stray outside our dark dingy corner...

I thought MN had made a decision not to include this board in trending.
We're allowed to discuss gender issues but only if we stay in our little corner.

AnonGCMum · 06/07/2023 10:06

Maybe it means that, as someone suggested above, only the lawyers got it yesterday? So both parties might be digesting it now.

cingolimama · 06/07/2023 10:06

I'm very anxious.

So?

The head of the LGBT Consortium, which represents over 300 LGBT charities in the UK, why does the UK need over 300 LGBT charities? stated during the tribunal that they consider any group which is for LGB people and not for T people inherently transphobic.

Apparently the differing opinions of LGB people on this matter are not important.

The point is, it's easy to find LGBT organisations which seem to focus solely on the T and don't think the LGB should be allowed to self-organise without the T. It's not easy to find organisations solely for LGB, i.e. same sex attracted people. The LBG Alliance is in fact the only one.

It seems to me that the LGB Alliance is therefore vitally important, but we probably don't need 300+ LGBT organisations which all hold the same set of beliefs and don't tolerate any dissent (specifically the belief that homosexuality is same sex attraction, not same gender attraction).

LGB are sexual orientations & T is an identity. Since when do groups representing and allying with LGB people need to also represent identities. Susie fecking Green should be investigated for the legality of taking a just 16 year old boy to Thailand to get castrated for his birthday. Bloody hell.......

FuriousAndFrustrated · 06/07/2023 10:08

Someone tweeted that they're (virtually) attending the ruling, so maybe it is being done live rather than simply published.

So it may take a while for the result to come out :-(

Rightsraptor · 06/07/2023 10:09

LGBA win!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/07/2023 10:09

Ah ok

lostmytowel · 06/07/2023 10:09

Don’t think we can read anything into the delay. When I’ve awaiting court judgments in my professional life, they’ve often been published later than we expected. And while we have known the outcome, we have not been able to share until we know it’s definitely in the public domain.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/07/2023 10:11

Another "technical victory" that isn't a victory for the Good Law Project? Is the judgment available anywhere?

AnonGCMum · 06/07/2023 10:11

Thank the Lord. I hope it’s a wholehearted win, not one Mermaids can claim as a win too.
