Just back from the rally. ‘Protesters’ shouted it down. They shouted death threats at Posie. Police did nothing. I wonder why? No such thing as free speech.

So there were no speeches? How very strange!

GCMM · 16/04/2023 15:21

I just watched it live on YouTube - you can hear everything. The TRA protesters could only be heard very, very faintly...Obviously different in person...

DerekFaker · 16/04/2023 15:26

Really? All the coverage I have seen on twitter looked pretty positive.

Hope you are ok, OP x

DerekFaker · 16/04/2023 15:28

Live feed.

Check the accent on yer man who says "You're not welcome 'ere, go 'ome!" Totally irish.

I think sometimes the YouTube feed is much better at picking up what was said rather than being there in person!

It looked and sounded good from what I watched and have seen on Twitter!

True 🙂

There was a Reddit thread started a few weeks ago on the Irish subreddit about her coming to Ireland. It asked for people to sign a petition against the visit, and said there would also be protests on the day.
Not one person agreed! I was surprised, but they were told that she’s saying nothing wrong, and that people are sick of the whole trans rights activists. Good to see.

There were speeches and they were v good but just really hard to
hear due to the chanting. I imagine the live stream was much better

Meant to say the young woman who spoke was brilliant

So disappointing the police are useless.

Was there violence beyond the noise intimidation?

The girl who was in secondary school who recited her poem was fantastic! But what really made me cry was the very idea that kids her age have to stand up in front of crowds of adults and say "I have rights as a girl". For anyone on the "be kind" head in sand type of stance, these are the young people who are being let down again and again. It is not just the kids in thrall to the cult, it is all the collateral in their peers being expected to lie. Anyway, she was wonderful. I really hope young women will be supported more and more to speak the truth.

I left a bit early as I needed to get a lift. Things seemed a bit tense but I did not see any actual physical violence, thankfully.

This person was banging on the windows of the UCL women's place conference.
They were also at the speakers corner event, screaming at women. Both events in London.

Unbelievable. Thought trans activists were always skint.

I agree. The eleven year old that spoke briefly about knowing the difference between men and women whilst there were, so called, feminist and women's groups on the TRA side who would quite happily silence her brought a tear but also white hot fucking rage.

It's the same every time I watch Let Women Speak events, the combination of emotion inspired by the courage of the women who speak and attend and the fury that this even needs to happen.

How can a democratic society do this to women?

The women of Northern Ireland and those who travelled from Ireland should feel very proud of themselves this evening.

MrsMurphyIWish · 16/04/2023 16:47

I watched the link. Loved it. The next speech is in my home town. Would love to take my Yr 7 daughter. As a secondary school teacher I’m worried about getting caught on camera.

MostUnreasonable · 16/04/2023 16:54

I thought the police was pretty good. I felt totally safe.

Wonderful! Everyone was free to speak so! And did.

Flowerly · 16/04/2023 17:31

I just watched her speak her words and wept buckets. What a young woman! And I too am FURIOUS that we are here in this state in 2023.
