BBB is definitely a YouTube channel to keep an eye on, he did a video not long ago about TW in Women's sports, and he's posted this today which goes into a surprising amount of depth that's easy to digest re; legislation in Washington.
r

No opinion presented one way or the other, just the bare facts presented in a clear way with images of the legal documents.
He even gave Chloe Cole a voice at the end of his video by playing a clip of her talking about her experience with transition/detransition.

Hopefully more people talking about this from positions of power (ie a literal practising barrister) will allow more people to see that it's not hateful or phobic to point out genuine problems like these!

Really worth a watch if you've not caught his content before!

I've been subbed to him for a long time, for the most part, I think he's good but once or twice, or maybe 4 or 5 times now, I've had the feeling that he'd licked his finger and stuck it in the air to see which way the wind was blowing in the echo chambers of the world, before commenting much on a particular subject.
Even so, his knowledge of law in those areas does serve to educate, so from that perspective alone, he's worth a listen. He can play a mean joanna too.
I'd like to see him discuss some of the gender stuff with Dennis but I enjoy the 2 handers he does with the other guy, though they're not about gender stuff.
Definitely worth a sub though.

Oh and if you're into Chinese cuisine, his wife does some cooking on another channel.

In all fairness the only person I have never seen at some point licker their finger and hold it in the air on this subject is the indomitable KJK.

I thought I understood the gist of this video to mean that transwomen with a GRC do not have automatic right of entry into female-only spaces if an alternative equal provision exists, but I am in the throes of an argument with somebody who claims I have misunderstood this. Can anybody else clarify for me?

It's been a while since I've watched this video, but from memory it's moreso talking about Washington State legislation which would allow for children to undergo gender affirming medical treatment (not just social transition)without any knowledge or consent from the parents.

It may have been this video you're thinking of? r

It's about 4 minutes in where he starts talking about the law part, and 6 minutes in where he summarises it and then gives some examples.

The gist of it as far as I understood it was;
"places providing single sex spaces are allowed to be discriminatory to those with a GRC, so long as it is to achieve a legitimate aim"

"legitimate aim" according to Citizen's Advice, is "The reason behind the discrimination. This reason must not be discriminatory in itself and it must be a genuine or real reason. Here are examples of legitimate aims: the health, safety and welfare of individuals."

Although reassuring, I can imagine that this can be easily flipped around, as it could be seen as a "legitimate aim" to discriminate against biological women for the sake of the trans woman (I assume the argument would be mental health?).

Which brings us right back to square one that trans people's feelings are just clearly so much more important than anyone else's, without even touching on the safe guarding aspect...
