Gender GP?

Please help. I'll keep details vague. Someone I am very close to wants to use the above to access hormones due to the nhs waiting list being awful. I am very, very scared as this person does have the means to pay (albeit by taking funds from something else which is extremely important.) What the fuck is Gender GP?

Not sure what info you’re after but I’m afraid you’re right to be very scared. Sorry to hear you’re in this situation.

My (adult) DC uses GenderGP. They are a private provider who have stepped into the gaps left by the NHS. They work on an "informed consent" basis - i.e. they will look for a reason to give the prescription. DC had a couple of fairly long consultations before being given drugs. They do not insist on talk therapy. DC has autism and told them so, that did not stop them prescribing. DC says that they insist on blood tests and if the blood tests aren't done they wont give repeat prescriptions for hormones. They offer but do not insist on fertility preservation (your connection may be able to do that through the NHS anyway.)

They are very ideological and extremely pro medical transition for anyone who asks. They have no interest in exploring the reasons behind a wish to transition or alternatives to medical transition, and they don't care if a patient might regret it later.

They are not based in the UK, all their consultations are online, and their patients will have no comeback if anything goes wrong or if they do anything wrong. Helen Webberley (yes that Helen Webberley) used to work for them and Susie Green (yes that Susie Green) works for them now.

They peddle hormones to vulnerable children and adults. They've just employed Susie Green which tells you everything you need to know about the sort of organisation it is.
