Nurofen - see my Pain, a gender (aaagh it’s sex) pain gap campaign

Saw the Nurofen advert yesterday it was going so positively then the dreaded gender word popped up. Having yelled sex at the TV, they followed up with the term “Gender pain gap.” aaagh

Did some research https://www.nurofen.co.uk/see-my-pain/ and the ethos seems right but how to spoil it with one wrong word. We all know NHS and healthcare professionals diminish women’s pain and this advert using women’s (real ones) lived experience is good, but why gender not sex.

I have obviously pointed this glaring error out to Nurofen but I thought some other voices might make the point.

Nurofen | See My Pain

See how Nurofen is closing the gender pain gap by making women's pain more visible in healthcare, in medical research and to the wider industry

I guess it’s because it’s a play on the phrase gender pay gap (which is also about sex not gender).

Also, the sex pain gap may sound a little too much like an unfortunate intimate injury 😬

What Bonfire lady said. The Sex Pain advert would be a different thing.

I have just seen this advert and felt exactly the same! These issues relate to sex not gender! Whilst I agree that it would be wrong to say sex pain, why say either and not just say women's pain! We are already so underpresented - I just feel frustrated that gender was brought into it!

It’s such a shame that the word gender is no longer a polite euphemism for sex.

Any particular reason you've responded to a 12 month old thread, that only had 5 replies in the first place, just to make a statement that was wrong (and rude)?
