Biological man not allowed to give blood because he refuses to say whether or not he's pregnant

Link here (not the Daily Fail)

NHS Scotland (them again) can dress it up as being for donor safety all they like, but it's the trans agenda in fancy clothes.

In their universe, how's he supposed to know whether or not he could be pregnant?

If they can't tell that he's not pregnant because he's male, why's he supposed to know more about biology than them? If they can't rule it out, why is he expected to?

MelchiorsMistress · 13/04/2023 13:37

Good for that man! Hopefully someone with some sense and influence will notice how ridiculous ridiculous this is and that it is detrimental to the general health of the population to ask stupid questions when it means they miss out on blood donations that they need.

Exactly.

Make them obey their own rules, if that's what they want to do.

Ask them how do I know if I'm pregnant? What's the criteria?

If you tell me what the criteria is for knowing if I'm pregnant, I'll tell you whether or not I fulfil it.

Make them adhere to their own ideology.

Datun · 13/04/2023 13:47

And if they say when was your last period, say I've never had one, is that a problem? Could you start doing some tests on me, please?

BorisisaLune · 13/04/2023 13:52

Seriously, couldn't she be a trans man with GRC, name, look and sound like a man but also be pregnant?

I don't know about these things but i assume thats why the question is there, same in England, i was asked if i was pregnant and i'm clearly way way past that!!

Plasmodesmata · 13/04/2023 13:59

My mum was asked if she could be pregnant when she went for her COVID jab. Aged 74. They didn't actually ask my dad the same question. I'm kind of wishing they had though, just to imagine his reaction!

Yes. And a transman is a woman. This is why we need to stop pretending that a transman is actually a man.

slowquickstep · 13/04/2023 14:09

Good on that man for standing up to the loony woke fools.

Igmum · 13/04/2023 14:13

Well done that man. Was pleased to see that, at the end of the article, they say they will change the question (but only slightly)

Almost as if biology matters eh.

My friend was asked by a midwife at her booking in appointment what sex she was, not even which gender she identified with which I find ridiculous but could tolerate.

Datun · 13/04/2023 14:16

The government needs to bloody well sort out the NHS. The question should be are you biologically male or female?

And if someone goes out of their way to disguise their sex, and lies about it, which results in something going wrong, then they should face legal repercussions.

Ingenieur · 13/04/2023 14:23

An interesting and pertinent point, the male donor is a GP.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 13/04/2023 14:33

Like Plasmo's mum I (well over 60) was asked was I pregnant when I got my Covid jabs (they had my date of birth on the paperwork). I asked them did they put the same Q to men and didn't get an answer.

World Gone Mad.

DOBARDAN · 13/04/2023 14:45

I'm proud of the man who resisted answering such a stupid question,
It's insulting to everyone's intelligence and doesn't inspire confidence in having treatment within the NHS when asked such things,
Things have become so disconnected from reality it doesn't bear thinking about,

lifeturnsonadime · 13/04/2023 14:47

I know that this is in Scotland but men are also asked this question here. My DH was at the covid jab appointment. Apparently they were told to at training.

This needs sorting out, and quickly, I was at a hospital the other month and they had spent money on rainbow posters (about pronouns) and a rainbow zebra crossing.

It's insane that the NHS is on it's needs and the wishes of a tiny minority (mostly of men who want to invade spaces) come above biological reality.

I think it is interesting, coming back to the story at hand that this is a GP, he's probably sick to the teeth of it all.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/04/2023 14:47

should say NHS is on it's knees!

The NHS is not well.

My experience was in Ireland, not NHS land, so I wonder is it a crazed instruction from the WHO.

Many in the world are not mentally well and they have lives, wellbeing, education, taxpayers money and the future wellbeing of the nation in their hands.

They will drag us out of the G8 into the G20 with their irrational luxury beliefs.

Chersfrozenface · 13/04/2023 14:58

At my Covid jab booster appointment I was asked whether I was pregnant. Not only did they have my DOB, if they had a proper records system they'd have seen that I'd had appointments and tests done to check that I was going through the menopause, well over ten years ago. It's the same health board, I have the same address, I'm with the same GP practice.

Unless they thought I might have been to some dodgy clinic in Europe for IVF.

I asked my husband whether he'd been asked about being pregnant, he said "no" and seemed surprised. I did point out that in some places they would have asked him.

BillyDeanisnotmylover · 13/04/2023 15:05

FFS
Good for him for standing up to this nonsense.

Palmfrond · 13/04/2023 15:29

I couldn’t access the article but was the question a spoken one or one on a form, because Im pretty sure I’ve ticked “no” to that question before on an NHS form before (despite me being a man).
And, at risk of being roasted, in a world where trans men exist, is it not a pertinent question?

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 13/04/2023 15:45

My question was a spoken one from a woman (I'm now wondering was it mandated by the vaccine manufacturer - I think my first shot was AZ). I've had the tick-box thing as well when getting flu or booster shots from the pharmacist - the lovely bloke gives an apologetic cough and moves on rapidly .

The thing is, in a world with trans men, men probably should have been being asked, but 60+ yr old women really shouldn't. Of course if medical records stuck to SEX throughout and ignored gender as a fashion choice irrelevant in this case, there would not be any potential risk

Chersfrozenface · 13/04/2023 15:57

Well, quite. Because a transman's record would then note female sex, which the transman is, biologically and therefore, importantly, medically.

Cheesedoffandgrumpy · 13/04/2023 16:00

Why could he just not say no?
He was being difficult. It is physically impossible for me to be pregnant too, but I would not kick up a fuss on a standardised form!
