School kids protest drag event in Canada - there is hope

This is encouraging.

The protest was organized by Save Canada, a non-profit organization that is opposed to radical gender ideology in Canadian schools. Protest organizer Josh Alexander said his organization takes issue with the fact that kids are being indoctrinated in the education system with gender ideology.

That’s encouraging. I wouldn’t have thought drag acts were a problem a few years ago, more like pantomime dames. But seeing the recent outbreak of highly sexualised womanface displays in the UK aimed specifically at children, it all seems part of a very exploitative agenda.

Well done those teen boys and that Mom's army woman.

I couldn't see many teen girls.

I thought I recognised the lad in the red hat from the Catholic school that had him arrested, I think that he is evangelical not Catholic.

That organisation is disturbing.

My favourite part is how it claims to be a youth-led organization but has a page-long rant about the Avro Arrow, surely a natural pre-occupation of high school kids.

I realize that there’s many on here who will scoff, “oh people call everything far right,” but honestly this is a Christian nationalist group not even subtly dog-whistling white nationalism.

I saw this earlier and was initially heartened but then I saw that the protest organisers were giving out free Bibles at the protest and it struck me that it was possible they are less concerned about indoctrination itself but about the wrong kind of indoctrination.

I still think a youth movement which encourages teenagers and young adults to think about these issues is a good thing.

It was also noticed that, apart from someone running off wit his flag, a lone TRA felt safe enough to attend and was not subjected to any violence or aggression. Things would have been very different if the tables were turned.

“Reclaiming our history” = reacting against Indigenous people talking about residential schools and Canada’s history of genocide against Indigenous people.

Clearly anti-vax. Pro-freedom convoy, which wasn’t just a peaceful protest against restrictions but a nearly month-long occupation of downtown Ottawa where they terrorized residents blasting their horns 24 hours a day, attacked a soup kitchen, made threats against the government, blocked the border for days, had links to armed militias and so on.

Pro-pipeline: also an anti-Indigenous dog-whistle. Indigenous nations are defending against pipelines through their territory (government needs consent from nations) and protecting the land and water. Unlike the convoy who were allowed to occupy Ottawa aided by police and military, indigenous people on their own lands are arrested and brutalized.

Pro police: if you look at the links these are thin blue line cops who are angry they’re not allowed to racially profile people and are mad black people protest being killed by police. It’s not just “well, they want low crime and order.”

And so on. I don’t like Trudeau either for various reasons but these are part of the groups of people who think Trudeau is a globalist (anti-Semitic conspiracy theory) bringing sharia law to Canada and are completely unhinged.

"Great White North" isn't itself about racial whiteness. It's a well known phrase in Canada that refers to ice and snow.

They describe themselves as Christian Nationalists and they also enjoy capitalising random words

for those two reasons alone they are definitely not for me. Just because we agree that no men are women, doesn’t mean we agree on a single other thing

The need for that organisation is disturbing.

I would argue that there’s no demonstrable need for Christian Nationalists

once again, these people aren’t offended because drag plays on offensive stereotypes of women

they’re offended because they think only men should be masculine and only women should be feminine

they’re not feminists

Unfortunately this is the kind of group that does more damage than good when speaking up against gender stuff. They just reinforce the idea that anyone who disagrees with it is a white supremacist, neo-nazi etc which in turn makes it harder for sane opposition to be heard (since our media just loves to conflate the two).

The Bible handouts did bother me a bit, I am not a Christian, but then people have a right to have Christian beliefs and express them, just like any group. I expect that freedom has been squashed with schools having to bend to gender ideology.

But this organisation still possibly dodgy, veering into racism and homophobia?

Maybe not all of those boys are fully in with it. And to be fair, they were much less aggressive and more articulate than the average TRA crowd.
