I cant bring myself to listen to this again. But this episode seemed even worse that the last time.

Only one side of the issue. ie women silenced again.

But this time for what seemed like hours Freddy McConnell (I asssume as I didn't hear the introduction) droned on about how horrible this suggestion to amend the EA was, wasn't wanted by for trans people (hint to the BBC this is when you get the otherside of the issue), how hurtful it was, and so on.

Has anyone heard any BBC news report about the EHRC suggestion to make sex mean biological, where a woman is asked their opinion?

I bet not, as they haven't done it.

Have they even asked the EHRC why they are proposing this.

Sorry could find the other thread, and then I though no this needs to be headlined.

Freddie should be happy. Changes would protect their maternity rights.

PotteringPondering · 07/04/2023 21:40

Yes. I was open-mouthed about how one-sided the interview about the proposed changes was. No attempt at balance, no challenge.

World at One is getting hammered on Twitter

IwantToRetire · 08/04/2023 00:08

I can see one comment on the WATO twitter feed https://twitter.com/BBCWorldatOne/status/1644355331420569600

Is there a twitter thread somewhere else?

Thanks

There were tons of them. I don't know what happened but the ratio was enormous

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/04/2023 00:32

Right I don't know how to link, but if you go to WAO twitter, it's their second tweet.

IwantToRetire · 08/04/2023 00:41

Thanks! I skipped over it as it seemed to be title about the Good Friday Agreement, but it seems even that pays second fiddle to hurt trans feelings.

This:

This person who wants us to believe they're really a man in a woman's body, was so triggered by the thought of themselves as a woman they went onto have pregnancies, wants us to take them seriously. Give us peace.

Exactly - such gross hypocracy.

Freddie reckons people should gain Freddie's permission to mention Freddie?
Freddie is a self absorbed loon.

SiobhanSharpe · 08/04/2023 01:51

He was given a really easy ride by the WATO presenter, no comeback on how, after gaining his GRC, he clearly did not carry out the required intention to permanently live in his new chosen gender.
Because he wasn't exactly conforming to it when he became pregnant. How does giving birth to a child square with living as a man?

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 08/04/2023 02:08

Questions need to be asked about the diagnosis process and the what living in the target gender actually means.

It seems to be not much more than a name change.

TheBiologyStupid · 08/04/2023 10:09

I've now complained to the BBC, though I probably wasted my time...

borntobequiet · 08/04/2023 10:52

I complained, once again. Very disappointed in Jonny Dymond.

However Freddy was so incoherent while saying everyone else was confused, that they must have made a few listeners think WTF?

Got a (non) reply to my complaint:

This is an update to apologise to you that although we normally aim to reply to most complaints within 2 weeks, we are currently dealing with a higher than normal volume of cases. This means it will take a little longer to reply to you at present. We hope you understand that this is why we are unable to respond within our normal service times.

A higher than normal level of cases, eh? Will they learn from that?

Ramblingnamechanger · 16/04/2023 23:39

No that is their standard reply to complaints .I have several the same.
