I am Leo - FtM trans film shown at school

My 13 yo DD was recently shown a film at school called I Am Leo: https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/proginfo/2014/46/my-life

DD said it was 'boring' and fortunately so far, has no interest in transology. I'm inclined to complain to the school though. Nothing nuclear, just tell them why I object. Apparently the girl decided to transition aged 11. Then the film catches up at 16 when she's on testoterone and getting her eggs frozen so another woman can carry a child for her in future. The film says that she's too young for surgery at that point, but looking forward to it. I haven't watched the film, so this is relayed by DD. My use of pronouns.

Has anyone else's child been shown this at school? What did you think?

I would definitely complain! I haven't heard of it being used in schools before and its not a good development!

Thank you @Empowermenomore that seems to be another girl called Leo.

The original BBC film says it was shown on CBBC at 6pm in 2014

Please complain. Girls with ASD will be susceptible to being unnecessarily influenced by this. It is very irresponsible of the school. Refer them to the Cass review.

My council (Shropshire) have this film linked on the ppt they are showing to all kids. I have complained but they don't even reply to me. But I don't have school age kids any more, so I can't complain as a parent.

I'm googling Leo Waddell now but s/he seems to have disappaeared from public view

"Transology". That is a very, very apt term for it.

Yes, this.

I should probably get my complaints in while I still can @oldwomanwhoruns

It seems pretty irrespsonsible to me @Nightmare2022 but there are some parents egging their children on to be trans.

Jesus wept. Anyone else reading these types of threads and genuinely considering homeschooling their children instead?!!!!

Laladybird · 06/04/2023 21:31

Not sure I can bear to watch it @OldCrone - in a way DD's impression is the important thing. She finds this sort of thing cringe, but it must be wearing her down towards blurred boundaries.

I really wonder how this kid is doing now.

Nope as parents we have the power to put a stop to the nonsense. Check out the post about the parent protest in Dublin today & about what they were protesting about. A book on the curriculum for 12 year olds teaching children about anal sex & anal fist pumping

I really wonder how this kid is doing now.

Found a Facebook profile, searched first and second name plus ‘lowestoft’

All close cropped selfies but there is a beach pic showing mastectomy scars so the early blockers didn’t make surgery unnecessary (something transactivists sometimes claim).

Seems to work in a pub and has a girlfriend? Must be 21 or 22 now.

Photo from 2021, posted by mum set to public /global view — looks happy enough but not significantly different considering approx 7 years medical transition (facial hair the obvious exception)!

Mum remarried in 2020 so has a different surname now.
