Not sure it's great PR to make your target market feel like you're taking the piss out of them.

He's prancing around like a My Little Pony on MDMA.

😁

Prancing is exactly the word that came to mind.

nepeta · 06/04/2023 17:24

He is mocking womanhood, in particular he is mocking young girls by pretending to be what he thinks they are like. This is about mocking all women and girls, and it is now widely allowed because it can be clad in a social justice dress (or leggings and a sports bra).

But someone told me that Mulvaney has ten million followers on TikTok, probably mostly women and girls. This is what gives me real despair, and it reminds me of one way how women got subjugated in the first place: By playing along with it.

GrinitchSpinach · 06/04/2023 18:08

I am beyond tired of seeing Dylan's manic, offensive parody of "girlhood" shoved in my face everywhere. I don't drink Budweiser so can't reduce my spending with them, but I would normally buy several Hershey's products (not Hershey's itself but they own Reese's and York Peppermint Patties and Twizzlers) for Easter. Not this year.

For actual women in the market for a sports bra, I just tried the Panache 7341 for the first time and its is GREAT. Pricey, but great. One of the few brands I've tried that has straps I can shorten enough to fit my female shoulders and ribcage, which by the looks of it are shaped quite differently from Dylan's.

Redbird87 · 06/04/2023 18:19

They'd never use a woman that scrawny anymore. Immoral, unhealthy, intellectually dishonest virtue signaling.

jeffgoldblum · 06/04/2023 18:22

On the other thread , one line voice defending this crap has actually stated that this is yoga! And apparently we don't need bras to do yoga!
Honestly it's all just too much now!

jeffgoldblum · 06/04/2023 18:22

Lone ( typo!)

Fluffymule · 06/04/2023 18:25

Can you imagine Nike putting a transman in a jockstrap or swimming trunks and endorsing a paid for partnership video of said transman jumping around flexing and karate chopping in a frenzied manner to imitate their male customer base?

Villagetoraiseachild · 06/04/2023 18:37

Fgs Nike, Just Don't Do It.....(offensive promotions like this)

jeffgoldblum · 06/04/2023 18:39

Wasn't it Nike that did that ridiculous and out of touch advertisement with women running at night?

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2023 18:40

Can anyone say the reverse happens to this extent?

Females advertising male products, eg condoms, getting awards and claiming male power, erasing words, parodying backed by global brands

Ffs no wonder we are saying no. Always these males thinking they can.

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2023 18:43

FusionChefGeoff · 06/04/2023 14:52

This HAS to be a joke / deep fake

I simply cannot be living in a world where a massive powerhouse of a brand like Nike signed this off

It’s just content they sponsor, whether they see it before uploaded on I’m not sure but they pay for it regardless.

He has a whole raft of other global brands doing the same, including NYFW

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2023 18:45

Thanks, that's what I just was trying to find out. Will go on my "brands to avoid" list.

I saw the Bud Light thing a few days ago, just the still of that video gives me the absolute creeps.

Animalsoffartingwood · 06/04/2023 18:57

Does he identify as an orangutan? Those arms! Longer than his actual legs. Womanly proportions (for a orangutan)

knittingaddict · 06/04/2023 19:07

The smile is terrifying, the body makes me anxious, but I thought the moves weren't so bad. (Says the woman with two left feet).

No idea what Nike were thinking.

So he's an ambassador for the brand rather than being part of a specific campaign? That makes slightly more sense, but only a tiny bit.

My daughter got loads of requests to be a brand ambassador when she was active on Instagram. It's not hard.

PopGoesTheProsecco · 06/04/2023 19:13

I am so pissed off with this - especially considering Nike’s treatment of actual women who have promoted their brand.

When we’re trying to promote women in sports at all levels (personally I think the This Girl Can campaign was good - others might disagree), we have a major sports brand using Womanface to promote their brand.

I find that video an insulting parody of women.

I used to be one of the #BeKind set.

No more!

This made me LAUGH.

It really would be the male equivalent wouldn't it? Spin kicks and sliding on knees like a child at a party 😂

However, I doubt it would be tolerated by men or even proposed.

Just us women who have to put up with this it seems.

I really hope - for balance - that they do this.

But obvs they won’t.

ElBandito · 06/04/2023 20:02

Watching that has made me lol at the kitchen aid promotion. Dylan clearly hasn't eaten a cake for years.

Animalsoffartingwood · 06/04/2023 21:03

Charlotte Tilbury damn I'm due a new glittery eyeshadow. Guess my money is going elsewhere.

PopGoesTheProsecco · 06/04/2023 21:14

Am so fed up with woman face. In a day and age that we call out cultural appropriation a man parodying a woman is somehow ‘stunning and brave’. If we put on blackface we’d rightly be called out on it.
