Should add the push back is getting the desired result. Two little wins in a week. Baby steps but Ireland is waking up.

Very good news.

Ps . Please tell me that is a photo of the toilet blocks and not the school !

SnailKite · 05/04/2023 18:00

Totally off the point but... the little hats! Do all Kerry toilet symbols have little hats?

Bláthannabuí · 05/04/2023 18:05

@Abhannmor I have no idea about th photo but the little hats🤣 Yes it just goes to show the force of parent power.
This was also in the Minister for Education Norma Foley's home town of Tralee & she was the one who signed off the gender neutral toilets! Can't see her being re elected in her constituency after that! They always have the Healy Raes 😁

Never noticed the hats. Perhaps they are for the Daoine Maithe ?

borntobequiet · 05/04/2023 18:29

The hats make the toilet people look uncomfortably like gender fluid Orangepeople.

Villagetoraiseachild · 05/04/2023 19:01

Is it a win or is it a compromise?
Isn't it the case that the girls only have toilets on the middle floor, now?
Not ideal if your period just starts and you have to get there quickly and you're on the wrong floor.
I just love the idea of this school but the toilet arrangements still speak volumes.
I may have misunderstood, I hope so.

Bláthannabuí · 05/04/2023 19:12

@Villagetoraiseachild its definitely a win, toilets built were all unisex until the backlash... Obviously some gender neutrals will have periods too so they'll have to hot foot it to the 3rd floor..

Villagetoraiseachild · 06/04/2023 10:07

Ok, thanks for reply. I suppose it's all relative, its better than the fiasco of all unisex.
I hope the next new build school asks the girls and young women first, ie holds a proper consultation.
Time will tell.

Now now. Gaelscoileanna are very inclusive. Why not celebrate the Twalfth ?

Orange day of Visibility in Tralee. Could be quite exciting.

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 10:50

@Abhannmor do you think Norma Foley would attend? 😁 It is her hometown after all!

miri1985 · 06/04/2023 11:21

Does anyone more familiar with the school know what the story is about changing rooms for sports etc. Were they invisaged as being unisex too?

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 18:53

The Gript have a video up of a huge protest from parents in Swords North Co Dublin if anyone can post the link here? Huge well done to all the parents interviewed! The pushback is huge!

As usual RTÉ & the mainstream media refuse to report continuing to take part in state controlled censorship.
