I've not paid much attention to Scottish politics. Nicola says she is getting on with life and her job - what is her job now?

Is she still a MSP? Like when Theresa May stepped down as PM she went back to being a back bench MP?

a question apropos of nothing - if an MSP is arrested are they allowed to remain in post? Do they have to resign on the point of arrest, or only if found guilty of a crime?

If I remember correctly if any msp is convicted of a crime but is not given a prison sentence of more than 6 months they can keep their job but can be fined or sanctioned by Parliamen. Only if they don't turn up to any meetings, Parliament etc for over 6 months can they be automatically booted.

It's really hard to get rid of a msp except by an election so much so that a bill was proposed to make it much easier but its been stalled for quite some time now 🤔

It is interesting to consider these hypothetical situations. If it was me I think I’d resign first.

The rumour on Twitter is that she's going to resign from being an MSP too. Who knows how much truth there is in that.

Yes, that’s what my pal is saying. Senior civil servant who’s losing his mind with the goings on. He shouldn’t be saving anyrhjng at all, so that makes me think he’s confident lots anojt to break. He’s never said a thing before!

I don’t expect her to stand at the next election, nor do I see her content on the back benchers voting along with whatever Humza or another SNP leader says.

Unless of course she's telling the said leader what to say.

The next elections for Scot parliament are ages away, so I suppose limping along to the next GE is the best way to draw as little attention as possible?
A by election costs money (public funds to run it and party funds to stand in it) and usually gets poor turnout compared to a GE. Presumably they could save a lot of money (and avoid a lot of embarrassing press attention) by tagging Nic’s MSP by election to the next GE and just issuing eligible voters with two ballots?

Imagine the shame on the SNP if they had a by election for Nic’s seat now and the SNP couldn’t retain it? Wouldn’t be a good omen for future elections.

I bet Nic would love to run away to a nice European bolt hole (and initiate divorce proceedings!) but if she really cares about Independence, she has to stay in Scotland and pretend everything is normal, for the sake of her party.

I bet the UN job is long gone. Why did Jacinta A resign again? Did she need a bit of time at home —to organise a move from a country that has been irreparably damaged by her guvernance—?

Resigning FMs have generally stayed on until the next election - if Jack McConnell and Alex Salmond could backbench I'm sure Nic will manage.

Unless of course there's a big job that needs her urgently!! Doesn't the UN have a "SheForHe" campaign? That'd suit perfectly.
