I’m drafting a letter to my children’s school concerning some educational materials on “gender”.I have looked at a number of detransitioner videos, (harrowing) but I’m looking for one where gender stereotypes are mentioned. So, those who do not fit eg into a “feminine” idea of being a woman. Can anyone recommend pl?

@Ethan1312 Thank you. But I’m looking specifically for detransitioners talking about how not wanting to look “feminine “ played into a trans narrative. I have come across a few but did not save link.

Have you read Keira Bell's story?

Hi OP,

the rate of transition regret is 1%.

I recommend you tell the school this so they understand how terrible gender-affirming care is.

Source?

And what about the desister rate?

A recent NHS study in an adult GIC put the detransition rate at just under 7%

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34593070/

The Cass Review should be reporting shortly re: detransition amongst GIDS patients but that obviously won’t include the children whose parents have facilitated private doctors or grey market drugs, and certainly not the many children who have desisted without ever being seen at GIDS at all.

Lots of secondary school teachers will immediately recognise that your 1% is entirely irrelevant to the current teenage cohort - my stepdaughter’s year 10 group of 300 included approx 50 teen transmen and AFAB nonbinary identifying teens.

They are now half way through year 12 and more than half have desisted.

HTH!

And what about the desister rate?
what about it??

It’s extremely relevant to schools, as you can see from my daughter’s year group, most teenagers will never become ‘detransitioners’ because they will desist without medical intervention.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 03/04/2023 17:49

Did you read that study? It’s not very good.

‘Poor’ ‘fair’ ‘non validated surveys’

One detransitioner is one too many and proves 'diangnosis' and 'treatment' is defective.

NellieEllie · 07/04/2023 01:09

@Bathhy Thank you . That review is based on studies of only “poor” or “fair” quality. It has been formally criticised- eg people who died from suicide or surgery not included, only short follow up 1-2yrs in most studies, inflated data, biased selection - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8751779/. Also cohort today iis different- huge increase & affirmative model.
