I was answering what I thought was a totally innocuous questionnaire about my recent Amazon Fresh delivery and was met with this question about my "current gender"

click man then laugh as the adverts change- GIBO

It just seems a strange set of choices even if you discount the "currently" part.
A transgender person might want to tick more than one box.

I always tick "prefer not to answer" in these situations. I don't have a gender.

RubyTrees · 31/03/2023 17:39

"Prefer not to answer" can imply that you do have a gender that you don't wish to disclose. If it's an optional question I choose not to answer at all.

I know, but it's the least worst option IMO.

I can just see the cognitive dissonance for transgender people who want to put Woman or Man of there's only one choice.

Probably inspire a new trans day of vengeance as its literal violence that they can't identify as both trans and a 'real' man/ Woman

BluebellBlueballs · 31/03/2023 21:21

And let's face it it likely won't be the transmen making a fuss

I hate these things, and if it's an optional questionnaire, e.g. a survey for a company, I often bail at this point.

"Prefer not to answer" isn't right, nor is "Woman", I want to answer "I don't have a gender identity."
