She is speaking so vehemently and emphatically on the GRRA she sounds absolutely unhinged.

She is almost rabid in her defense of any concerns or objections.

It's a really hard listen as she's just not someone that is open to nuanced discussions or listening to to other people.

Absolutely mind blowing that the Greens are getting air time and media focus and ALL they're able to talk about is TRA stuff. Not a word about anything else. At all.

TRA bingo a-go-go - most marginalised, most oppressed, etc etc

She comes across totally deranged. I didn't hear the interview - but she's always like that...rabid and totally obsessed with transgender issues.

HagoftheNorth · 28/03/2023 13:31

Well, it’s not as though there’s any other pressing issue for the Greens to concern themselves with is it? Oh, wait……

RealityFan · 28/03/2023 13:33

Isn't that Maggie who thinks 7 years olds know their GI and should be revered for doing so?
It's amazing that in any other profession you'd be shown up for such insanity and your career progression would stall, but in politics, especially of the left, you're held up and respected even more.

IcakethereforeIam · 28/03/2023 13:41

Maggie Personpeeps, that Maggie?

She was so her up it sounded like she was spitting as she spoke. Absolutely unhinged. No one listening can have felt anything other than shocked at her strength of feeling and the sheer force of her insistence. Completely tunnel visioned and unable to flex to the interviewer's questions at all.

As you say @HagoftheNorth it's not like there's anything else people would be looking to the Greens to champion first and foremost, is it...

Maggie Personpeeps, that Maggie?

Moggie Personpeeps wasn't it?

IcakethereforeIam · 28/03/2023 21:06

Yes @Boiledbeetle although it might have eventually evolved into Moggie Purrsonpeeps. Though, thinking about it 'son' is a bit gendered. Moggie Purrsprogpeeps?

It's just so hard to take this person seriously.

Like impossible hard!

Boiledbeetle · 28/03/2023 21:12

The MP that is. I always take Marge seriously!

HockeyJock · 28/03/2023 21:25

Well yes, Marge should not be ignored.

Maggie on the other hand ..I just can't understand why someone who loves her hasn't manoeuvred her out of the limelight and into a neutrally painted and dimly lit sanctuary somewhere far, far away.

I have so much respect for the person in the Maggie costume.

To keep that level of batshittery going, for so long - Oscar-winning, truly.

My only fear is that the actor is so.steeped in spouting the nonsense that she's going to start believing it for real...

On the contrary, she was manoeuvred INTO that position by her partner, a mediocre white male who realised he wouldn't get elected himself. For years he wrote her speeches and answered her emails.

That she has been voted for and allowed to stay in post whilst being so nakedly unstable is a mystery to me..

And may indeed have an aneurysm or something if they keep up that level of intensive ranting!

There was a pretty big stooshie about it in the green party at the time. Allegations of manipulating the ballot to get her top of the list for them in north east Scotland.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 28/03/2023 23:06

I’ve seen her in action. It’s like her head might pop off, she is so full of fizz

id be tempted to give her a mento and stand back.

HockeyJock · 29/03/2023 07:47

@stealtheatingtunnocks that's a brilliant description, and EXACTLY what she sounded like on the radio!

Yes. She’s surrounded by layers and layers of other people who are going to encourage this stuff.

Generally though, she’s just quite hard work as a person. She’s always thought she’s in charge and more important than other people. She’s not as clever as she thinks she is either. Then she took all
that into politics.

Summerhillsquare · 29/03/2023 08:16

She was known to say in party meetings "as an African...", Offending black members. They cringed inside out when she did her initial speech to parliament partly in Shona.

I mean, technically, she is an African. But it’s quite weird for someone who grew up as a child of middle class white immigrants to Zimbabwe to be using that kind of statement as part of an oppression olympics type claim.

It’s a bit tone deaf really, even if it is true that she was born and raised in an African country.

SquidwardBound · 29/03/2023 08:42

Even more so when she's lived in Scotland for pretty much the entirety of the 21st century so far.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 29/03/2023 10:45

I’m hoping that Humza manages to perform in exactly the same way as he always has, messes up the S35 over the GRR bill (which reads to me like gerbil) and the greens fizz off, the SNP loses their majority, that leads to the party splitting, that leads to a coup, Holyrood is razed to the ground and we can start over with a model with a second chamber and some talent.

I say that as a former Green member, previous nationalist and person who sneered at the concept of the Lords. The world has indeed gone mad.

HockeyJock · 29/03/2023 13:57

@stealtheatingtunnocks we're all finding ourselves confused at where we've ended up politically. You're not alone!
