Share token: Posie Parker: JK Rowling condemns tomato juice attack on trans critic

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/6ea39236-cbf1-11ed-adc8-dcfa63cb4163?shareToken=25f2d24b0c84198eb50583ac3d59bcfb

I've already complained about the head - I hate that she's reduced to a 'trans critic' - she's a women's rights campaigner and her whole campaign is about giving a platform for women to speak out - about anything. It was at Hyde Park that I heard a speech on surrogacy that completely changed my view on it, for example.

The Times have gone in on the angle of JKR calling out the violence, which probably makes sense, as she's by far the bigger name. But again, it's reduced to 'what one woman says about another woman' when the elephant in the room - men are attacking women for daring to speak their minds - gets to break all the furniture and no one comments.

I like the Times for its coverage of the issue but this is just trawling Twitter, not journalism.

No comments allowed on it unfortunately.

Yeah, doubly furious about that.

So, Michael Wood (immigration minister) condemned her ‘inflammatory, vile and incorrect world views’

i would be interested to know which views he was referring to - that women should have access to single-sex spaces and services, or that women should be allowed to speak in public?

EndlessTea · 26/03/2023 21:08

What is a “gender campaigner”?

JacquelinePot · 26/03/2023 21:14

So much bullshit in such a short article. It's really quite impressive. Did the "journalist" scrape his text from gender identity zealots' twitter feeds?

Villagetoraiseachild · 26/03/2023 21:16

Embarrassed for them, such shoddy journalistic standards.
Andrew Doyle on the other hand was far more accurate in his reportage and interviews.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/03/2023 21:46

It was far more than a tomato juice attack. Had any of the security people gone down as they moved her through that mob, she'd have been killed. A quick look at any of the film of what happened shows that. Very shoddy journalism.

''The mother of four has built a following by claiming it is impossible to change sex and is pushing to exclude trans women from female-only spaces.''

What a silly comment.

Laladybird · 26/03/2023 21:55

I thought this was apt

God, that comment! I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

GB news will end up with a reputation of being the only UK media to report accurate information at this rate.
