Of course, there's a right to criticise speech, as Mishy mentioned, but not much of that going on. Drowning out speech and violent actions are not criticisms. It's almost like the protesters have valid, coherent criticisms.

Has anyone seen the footage of the speaker's corner regular having a pop at the TRAs / anti-women activists because their demonstration is not in the spirit of speakers corner? He also has a go at the police for not doing anything about their bullying tactics. The footage is really worth a watch especially the last 10 minutes ish where he approaches many of the regulars to see what they made of the disruption by the AWAs / TRAs.

Also this is apparently a follow up from later where the free speech regulars are discussing how they can support the feminist the next occasion.

I watched that. He is furious at them, isn't he? When they call him fascist, he points that he's a Marxist and how is grandfather mutilated himself so he wouldn't have to fight in Hitler's war.

What's obvious from this footage and the rave footage and pretty much every footage is they they have no counter except Fascist, Nazi etc.

What is really interesting is the footage from Ali (the Muslim guy who is another regular at Speakers Corner). I haven't watched all of it but there's just noise, but no calling a Muslim man a Nazi or a fascist. He asks them " If you can't drink till you're 18, how can children change/know their genders?"

That's precisely why we go. The public space is our space as much as anyones. The idea that women should meet secretly and not speak in public is outrageous. We can't defend our rights by hiding.

This. I'm so glad there was a meeting yesterday, because it shows that the suppression of women's rights to meet and speak in public isn't just a problem abroad which can be handwaved away. The programmes last night and today talking about what happened in NZ were also talking about this.

Thank you for these links. I love his fury at the TRAs for not being in the spirit of speakers corner and not even trying to voice an actual point. I enjoy the walk back up to corner towards the end where he's trying to cheer up the woman and the last 10 minutes when gets the opinions of the regulars.

It's actually one of the least stressful videos to watch of the day, as the confidence he has in his outrage at the TRAs behaviour and, as tall man used to speaking to the public, he's not in the least intimidated by them.

And here is the same guy calling on men (the regulars at speakers corner?) to defend the women, link arms and push the TRAs out "unless they're prepared to discuss and debate."

Here's the video of Ali trying to engage the TRAs at Speaker's Corner yesterday. I've only watched a short segment. Will be watching the rest tomorrow at work!

Thanks for sharing the link raspberry. That footage is comedy gold 😂 I think the AWAs are seriously pissing off all levels of society at this point. Ali Dawah was aware of the woman (sorry can’t remember her name) who was monstered and threatened with violence for calling out Jeffrey Marsh. I think they’re going to become seriously unstuck at some point.

It's really interesting seeing the reactions of the other speakers and their footage and interactions with the mob.

The drowning out and chanting of lies is the complete antithesis of an exchange of ideas and debate.

"Protect Trans Kids" says the placard, but they seem oblivious as to who they need to be protected from. It isn't the women speaking who threaten them.

"Fascists" they cry, but who is it trying to drown out others and make them submit?

Why is one of them shouting "trans liberation, no assimilation?"

I thought assimilation was the point?

I'm sure it has been said many times but I find the DARVO so disturbing. Front and centre in some of the videos is that sign "trans lives are more important than hurt feelings". Erm no, I'm pretty sure it goes "women's safety is more important than men's hurt feeling" (clearly it's not to the police but we can dream!)

I would be interested to know what uninvested passersby made of the scene. Sorry maybe it is covered in one of the videos, I have not had time to watch them all.

Yes, Geoffrey Marshmallow apologists going after a Muslim woman pissed off a whole new set of people.

It's a clever tactic. She's letting them hang themselves. They are demonstrating her point beautifully for her: all she has to do is show up.

I saw an article yesterday by some livid man explaining that this was a rotten, lousy trick of the right wing: to turn up and evilly do nothing so that righteous left people were cruelly forced to scream insanely, lose all grip and batter them like raving maniacs.

Ali's opening words on his video sum it all up:

And I liked his indignation in the other one:

They're radical! They're extremists! They were calling me nazis!

People are finally waking up to the fact these protestors are radicalised individuals. They should be on watch lists, they should be monitored by the police. Instead they are protected by the Police, politicians and the state. There should be no sacred castes whatever or whoever you are.

For the sake of completeness: another person called a 'nazi' by trans activists for apparently no reason at all other than he disagrees with them.

The Hatun Tash case mentioned by the Speaker's Corner regular is interesting. Hatun Tash is a Christian who enraged a load of islamists at SC and was twice arrested by police who clearly thought is was easier to deal with one small women rather than a mob of bullying Islamists. They ended up having to pay her £10,000 and apologise. She was also stabbed in the face 2 months after her arrest by a person who has never been brought to justice. Another example of the Met failing a woman whilst pandering to a mob of angry men.

In view of what happened to her it seems irresponsible in the extreme to allow the AWAs to kettle in women's rights campaigners when they clearly pose a threat to those women.
