Trans women are NOT banned from sports

They can compete with the other males - is that right? It seems a dangerous rhetoric to be suggesting that they are banned.

Yes, of course. And they can compete against women in Open categories.

Boiledbeetle · 25/03/2023 12:16

You are correct they can still compete. they can compete with the other men. Just because they've lowered their testosterone and may or may not now have breasts that hinder their performance somewhat doesn't stop them competing. Kid course they've probably fucked their chances of ever actually winning anything.

The women who want to be men though...who take testosterone unfortunately made their choice when they decided to do that. If that means they are no longer eligible to partake in women's sport that's entirely of their own doing. Choices have consequences.

Not all TW take hormone blockers to some are as able to compete as the other males who have not tried to alter their natural biology. For the others, yes choices have consequences. Pregnancy does not help a woman compete and some never recover to previous levels of competition. Such is life. Biology does present some dilemmas sometimes.

Quite so. Many female athletes have to make very difficult choices and compromises.

Transwomen athletes can compete at the very highest level if they choose - Jenner won the Olympic Decathlon, an event which women can't compete in at all.

Everyone can compete in their own sex class, not that you'd know that from Tom Daley's frothing-at-the-mouth reaction.

They agree that "sex is real", but want to falsify sex on their birth certificates and ignore biology when it comes to things like sports. Strange.

raspberrywine · 26/03/2023 08:41

Of course they can but it doesn't suit their narrative. And just for once, when interviewed or the subject comes up on msm, I wish interviewers and journalists would turn around and say "But..." instead of giving them a free pass. This rhetoric is never challenged even when it's so obvious. Such collusion.

Turnipworkharder · 26/03/2023 08:57

Yes it's so frustrating all the clickbait headlines.

nilsmousehammer · 26/03/2023 09:04

Emoting and appealing to sentimentalism and readers who won't look beyond the headline. It's largely how this political movement operates. Doesn't have much else really.

FourTeaFallOut · 26/03/2023 09:09

If there's a trophy for hyperbole then the TRAs have it. At this point I don't think they can compose one solitary sentence without either Nazis, Apartheid or Literal Violence being thrown into the mix.

Weallgottachangesometime · 26/03/2023 09:12

Exactly.

The sport issue REALLY irks me. If sex is so irrelevant in sport then why aren’t they asking for all sport to mixed sex. Instead of asking for transwomen to be allowed in the women’s category? Where are all the transmen shouting to be included in male sport (oh yea they can already because they wouldn’t have a bloody hope in hell of qualifying or winning anything). How can you look at the dominance that males have in sport (in the sense that males out perform women in almost all sports) and think that you can allow people to compete across sex categories and retain fair access for female?

It's awful that he feels entitled to effectively exclude women from sports. I'd be so ashamed if I was his mother.

I think we need to get out of the mindset that they're doing this consciously. I'm pretty sure that the problem is that they simply don't see women as having any legitimate interests of our own and genuinely cannot understand why the wants of men aren't also our first priority.

Redebs · 26/03/2023 12:37

I was browsing the internet for sportspeople identifying as trans the other day and was interested to see that Wikipedia had a list of 'transmen' as well as 'transwomen' in the entry on transathletes.

It turns out that most of the 'transmale' sportspeople were winning awards in women's sports events.
