These young women seem so fearful of defining ‘what is a woman’

It still shocks me when you see young women unable to define ‘what is a woman.’
They seem so cautious and careful with their words and it’s so sad to see how intimidated they seem by the question.

Such a depressing video.

Boiledbeetle · 12/03/2023 09:46

They are terrified of saying the wrong thing.

They are able to define what a woman is.

They are just to scared to.

That was incredibly frustrating and sad to watch.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/03/2023 09:56

So frustrating to watch..I understand the fear but simultaneously it also makes me a.littlw angry because the only reason they even have the privilege of sitting there being asked the question is because wien befire them.fought for everything they have now. And now they are centering the feelings of men and males to the point that they arent even allowing eachother to define themselves. And without being able to define themselves the ability to define the discrimination disappears because we can't mention the demographic it affects.

We are doing it to ourselves now the men don't need to do any more.

InterestingUsernameTBC · 12/03/2023 10:15

A very effective way to oppress a group is to convince them to oppress themselves.

HagoftheNorth · 12/03/2023 10:53

That is profoundly depressing.

Awumminnscotland · 12/03/2023 11:03

OK, I will confess I almost shared this with friends inviting them to see how dangerous gender ideology is for girls and young women and how they have likely been taught to be kind all their lives.
But a wee flag was waving in the back of my head due to a bearded man🤣(such an accurate flag) choosing to question and indirectly hold these Women up for ridicule (according to my quick research the @whatever podcast about modern dating is being seen by millions and is showing these women up for their very poorly thought out answers, lack of thinking generally and mostly lack of articulate speech.
I looked at the podcasts, and it made me really angry seeing women held up for ridicule like this by men who obviously have a particular agenda.
Unfortunately, how these Women are not only afraid to state the truth, but actually I suspect don't actually understand biological truth, ( listen to the podcast with a women trying to argue the bible states God made man woman and them! ) IS largely likely due to growing up in schools and families and friendships being taught to be kind and thus reduce their boundaries. Alot of the Women on the podcasts really appear to have very few personal boundaries and are holding that up as personal freedom.
I read 2 reviews of the podcasts which were enough for me to see where this is all stemming from. One lauded Andrew Tate for their clear thinking and agreed with him that feminism is the reason for 'women' being like this. I put the quote marks as you can see how these podcasts are used for the denigration of women in general.
The podcasts have obviously cast chosen only women of particular looks and thinking to be held up for ridicule, from what I've seen so far anyway.
It is terrifying that its been easy for them to portray a whole generation of women as stupid because of what they've been led to believe is normal thinking.
It really makes sense to me why young men and women and boys and girls are falling for this anti feminism stance so hook line and sinker.
I'm just thinking our loud here so sorry for long post.
It just reinforces to me how important it is to keep fighting the small grassroots fights for recognising sex not gender and having those conversations at school pick up.
We need to have early and consistent conversations about the reality of sex and the need for sex based fights with our children znd teach them critical thinking!
Any other thoughts on these podcasts?

HowdoIgetbacktothe80s · 12/03/2023 11:07

This is so depressing. They all know the answer but are too afraid to stand up for their rights, the are becoming brainwashed. I fear for my 15 year old dd’s future. She knows what the definition is and would voice it here and now but will there become a time when she will be confronted and intimidated simply by voicing what she knows to be scientifically correct? It’s so sad.

PorcelinaV · 12/03/2023 11:35

On a certain level, it's like they have been asked to say the N word. They know they aren't allowed to say it.

mach2 · 12/03/2023 12:01

I wonder whether Peter Boghossian could have teased some concessions out or not.

FebName · 12/03/2023 12:53

Such a sad sad clip.

Those girls are terrified.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/03/2023 12:58

These girls (our daughters) are all scared. They're being systematically threatened and bullied at all stages.

namitynamechange · 12/03/2023 12:58

@Awumminnscotland Yeah - there is a whole trend where one "rational man" interviews a selection of young, usually pretty women in low strappy tops and the man says something like "look around you, look around you, everything around you was built by a MAN etc etc" and they look confused/have no answer. And then the video is titled "x DESTROYS feminist arguments". No idea if the women in the videos consider themselves feminists, if they volunteered or are being paid to appear (and look baffled). Either is possible - and its certainly true that lots of young women ARE afraid of defining what a woman is. But it could also be completely made up for Youtube likes (like those videos where a man asks a girl out and she says she has a boyfriend and then he shows her his fancy car and she changes her mind. And its all actors).

I don't like sharing things like that unless I know more about the source - even if it supports my argument because so much of this stuff is not real and appealing to peoples (including my own) cognitive bias.

mach2 · 12/03/2023 13:09

It's why i wonder if Boghossian might have got different answers. Instead of putting people on the spot he gets them to physically stand where they consider themselves to be on a question then sees if they are persuaded enough by arguments to move their position.

This is a really good point

dropthevipers · 12/03/2023 14:09

It's obvious none of them believe the garbage they are parroting to avoid a pile on from Blokeo Harem. The good news, I hope, is that with the tide turning more people will be emboldened to ditch the batshit mentalism in favour of the stuff everyone believed until five minutes ago-you remember, truth, reality, science and biology.

flyingbuttress43 · 12/03/2023 14:24

This made me angry. I was a second wave feminist - spent the 60s and 70s fighting for all the rights these women take for granted. A lot of the time I and my fellow feminists were sneered at, denigrated, ostracised, called man haters and so on, but we kept pushing and took no shit. Now I feel why did I bother when a sizeable proportion of young women are so spineless.

Again though - we don't know who these young women are or why they are featured. It might be they were chosen at random, they might have volunteered, or they might have been specially selected because of the views they hold. That's not to say that many young women don't think like that - there are lots of surveys showing many do (also the SFW protesters), and surveys showing many others are scared to say what they really think out loud. But there's no point getting angry at social media videos designed to make you get angry.

RudsyFarmer · 12/03/2023 14:50

It’s a ‘gotcha’ question. They no full well that the wrong answer will see them cancelled so why would you set yourself up. If I were on video and it was going to posted on Twitter I’m not even sure I’d answer. I’d rather plead the 5th and save my job.

RudsyFarmer · 12/03/2023 14:51

Know 🤦🏻‍♀️

MavisMcMinty · 12/03/2023 15:45

God* grant me the courage to explain that a woman is an adult human female. But I do “get” their squirms of embarrassment. Until I was banned from Twitter I didn’t dare say anything on trans vs women’s rights for fear of a pile-on, no matter how careful, tactful or neutral I tried to be.

*I don’t believe in God, but still.

flyingbuttress43 · 12/03/2023 16:02

We should get angry. These women may have been "chosen" or "volunteered", but walk around any university campus and you will find a similar lack of spine, likewise timid women in workplaces afraid (understandably) of losing their jobs.

It's because it is only recently that enough women are getting angry that we are beginning to see a backlash against this TWAW agenda. I don't get angry because of social media. I get angry because so many women are colluding in a big lie, ultimately to their own detriment.

PillBoxes · 12/03/2023 16:25

What if every woman with GC views got cancelled en masse. That's what's needed - a class action of sorts. Can't fire every woman in the world. The fear is a personal one and understandable though. Got to stand together, but sadly I don't see a lot of that these days, just fear and cult like adherence to the trans message.

Hopefully the tide keeps on turning.

smileladiesplease · 12/03/2023 16:49

Very few though it's the shouty/scared minority.

Can assure you maybe outside of the London metro mob young and old women are just as fiesty as they ever were snd absolutely know what a woman is.

You have to stop thinking what's on the echo chamber of Twitter is actually what's happening up and down the country in RL.

My dd and her friends lads and girls are mid 20s snd howl at such nonsense. Similarly my dss mid 30s and my friends mis 50s know tis all nonsence and will pass like all fads

It's done for sturgeon and will do for Labour unless Kier gets a fucking grip

nepeta · 12/03/2023 17:00

It's cruel to create that situation, and I suspect that dislike of women is behind this. If those are just ordinary young women who are not well versed with what's happening or who are not activists, asking them this question really is to give them a Hobson's choice between two impossibly nasty things: Either pretend that you don't know what a woman is and so avoid being canceled, harassed etc., or state what a woman is and then get canceled, harassed etc.

You can choose to either be abused or forced to lie and be submissive.

MrGHardy · 12/03/2023 17:07

"He wasn’t trying to understand. He was trying to force them to define something that doesn’t really need to be defined. A woman is a person!"

First comment there. "A woman is a person". Hallelujah.
