I'm starting another one of these, because last year's brought up some brilliant ideas I wouldn't otherwise have come across. I'm trying to do something positive for women's rights, every day.

Today, I have:
-Done a bit of gardening for Glinner, whose parsley needs a bit of attention
-Filled in the IPSOS consultation on the reporting of sex and gender identity, which closes today
-Mailed my MP, to ask that she support the parliamentary debate on the Equality Act and the clarification of biological sex.

Any ideas for future days gratefully received 😀

Donated to Graham Linehan's Crowd Justice appeal. Thanks Glinner for all you're doing 😎

CandidaAlbicans2 · 14/03/2023 16:45

Oh, and made my views very clear on a recent questionnaire from my library when asked my gender 🙄And said in no uncertain terms that I do NOT support drag queen story time, explaining my reasons and what I'd prefer to see instead (positive lesbian and gay role models who don't wear "woman face")

Donated to Graham Linehan's CrowdJustice appeal. He's not got many days left on it, and still quite a bit of £ to go.

Have already bought Hannah Barnes book from local bookshop but am going to return this weekend to see if it’s been moved from v top of a shelf out of the way to the more prominent ‘recent releases’ table by the door.
I may ask for it again and see if others can go in and show obvs interest

Another cautiously broached conversation with a good friend which didn't end up finding that we had a secret GC ally but has resulted in her doing some research of her own and sending me relevant articles....once she starts reading I'm sure she will be peaked very soon!

Today I have mostly signed petitions. This one asking Waterstones to stop pushing a book promoting surgical interventions to young girls: www.mumsnet.com/talk/petitions_noticeboard/4768562-remove-this-inappropriate-and-unsafe-book-from-the-waterstones-childrens-book-award?reply=124828011

And the Change.org one asking Ireland to remove violent male sex offender Barbie Kardashian from Limerick Women's Prison.

Remove this inappropriate and unsafe book from the Waterstones Children's book award | Mumsnet

Mumsnet makes parents' lives easier by pooling knowledge, advice and support on everything from conception to childbirth, from babies to teenagers.

Have now signed the Waterstones petition - thanks for posting about that. Have already signed the Barbie one.
'Bought a few coffees' for Glinner the other day

Villagetoraiseachild · 22/03/2023 20:04

Thanks, have signed Waterstone's petition.
Thanks for the word, Newboots!
And Raspberry, wonder if we need a league table or graph for peaking M.P's?!

Donated to Rachel Meade's Crowd Justice appeal 'Help defend freedom of speech: Sanctioned by Social Work England' as her costs have increased:

I crossed out gender on a health form and wrote sex. One of the questions that followed was ‘do you ever feel that you’re the opposite sex?’ So I pointed out again the questionnaire had said gender. It was an old form so it was back in the good old days that gender was polite term for sex. But hopefully they will change it now so the data they are collecting is valid.

teawamutu · 26/03/2023 09:18

Just gardened for Denise Fahmy, who's taking Arts Council England to tribunal after she was bullied for holding GC views.

(Watching for ideas.)

Rearranged my living room bookcase so that my small but growing collection of feminist books is at eye level.

Signed a Change petition 'Allow shopping vouchers to be used for stage one formula milk over alcohol'

GrassIsGreenerExpat · 29/03/2023 10:48

Donating some money to Rex Landy's fund, to pay for counselling for the old lady who got punched last week in Auckland. 💚🤍💜 Wasn't much, but it felt like something.

That's a lovely one, doing that tomorrow.

Today I also used my Lend With Care balance to support a one woman business in Ecuador. Amazing site.
