Gender questionnaire at school: how common is this?

My DDs school gave year 9 girls a preferred name, gender and pronoun questionnaire at the start of the year. Then they didn't tell parents when children decided to identify as male with new name and pronoun. This name was then used by teachers and students, without informing parents. Please can I ask if this is common practice in high schools before I take it further. Thank you

The Safe Schools Alliance has some information regarding social transition, with some follow-up after the Cass review was published.

Ultimately, encouraging social transition is not a neutral act, but an active intervention.

Also, after reading Hannah Barnes's book "Time to Wait", GIDS staff had expressed concern that social transition at school actually undermined their psychology work to explore the nature and background of potential gender dysphoria.

Parents have parental responsibility not schools; and that includes the right to name your child. They have overstepped the mark.

The Student Information Management System, called SCOMIS, has a box to tick for "Pronouns in school only".
This is the system teachers use to take the register.

This happens all the time. Parents often have no idea.

Interestingly, our system used to have a field called "gender" but this was replaced by "sex" in a recent upgrade.

They added an optional field "pronoun" though, although these are currently unpopulated.
