Moen describes Terfenstein 3D as offering “LGBTQAI+, transgender, and feminist themes of gender-critical people and what a post-war apocalyptic world would look like if gender fascists won.”

“In this dystopian world, fascists have killed and imprisoned all transgender and queer people, subjecting them to harsh conversion therapy, imprisonment, and death. You play as an escapee fleeing their detention center, while you exact your revenge.” Moen states the game “brings to light the very real transphobic violence many transgender people face for just existing.”

Apparently you shoot women, priests and dogs in the game. It's a revenge fantasy where the scenario is obviously laughable and if anything just suggests paranoid delusions.

How ironic, given that clinics such as the Tavistock and Sandyford are administering conversion therapy to gay autistics, “transing the gay away.”

It sums up the type of people you're dealing with. Nerdy teenage boys (and the men they grew up to be), who could either go down the incel path or trans path.

You're not dealing with mature people, instead you're dealing with childish rage who instead of proper debate look at modding a computer game.

There seems to be a large overlap between love of computer games and transgender identity.

Why dogs?

Dogs need walking, which means leaving your basement den, getting outdoors and “touching grass” (reality). Dogs are problematic.

Dogs have also caused literal violence for at least one trans women I seem to remember reading. They were extremely upset at a friends dog who “hates men” not validating them by barking at them.

Also, I feel so sad that it’s so normal for women to be the target that I was initially more horrified at the dogs being killed!

I wish when people went on about it becoming like Nazi Germany people did research about many of the pioneering sex change surgeons who were German and worked with the Nazis and carried out many experiments for them.

I can see how creating a game avatar allows you to explore a fantasy hero self. And I have certainly played male characters - firstly through lack of choice (e.g. early Pokémon games only had one (male) character you could play as, and then also because the female characters were often very gender stereotyped and I'm gender non conforming). But in that kind of context where you are playing a game, in a fictional world, I think it is clear role playing.

But I think it's really social platforms such as Tumblr and Instagram where people have brought their fantasy selves into something more like real life and are presenting it as reality where the disconnect has really set in. (And it's not just the genderists who do this of course, people's appearances, family life, homes etc are all "showing their best side" on social media). People curate their public personas, and have found a world where they have an illusion of control over other people's perceptions of them. You are who you say you are because people don't have anything else to go on.

Anyway yes this seems a really psychologically unhealthy game to immerse oneself in. I can imagine the uproar if GC feminists had made a game which failed to validate genderist beliefs even if it wasn't at all violent.

It's amazing that they still think they are the kind ones.

'For just existing' is something I see repeated all the time on Twitter, the idea that transgender people are attacked just for existing and that those attacks are intended to annihilate them.

Would this be 'dog whistle' in the way the trans activists argue that asking them to define 'woman' in their theology is?

Not sure, but clearly nobody gender critical is denying that transgender people exist.

The debate is now more about whether bog-standard women are allowed to exist, keep their words, their spaces etc.

And about which privileges transgender people should have over and above the rights that all people should have (such as redefining our whole language, redefining female sex into ownership of various body parts (ovary-owners), erasing 'mother' from language, and turning 'women' into a mixed sex category).

I think you're supposedly "denying their existence" if you don't go along with the idea that they are really women.

I mean, you can try to explain that you don't deny their existence, but merely disagree with one of their beliefs, but they want to make it this big thing. I have been told before, "I will not debate my existence". Fine. Just don't expect other people to take it seriously then.

Yes, I agree. What they wish, tho, erases all of us who are women because we are female. So it's a conflict, and should be discussed rather than seen from their side only.

Dogs were in the orignal Wolfenstein 3D - Alsatians I think, so it's just lazy re-skinning
