Genspect are going head to head with WPATH/EPATH with this conference in the same town, in the same week

Wow what a line up, I'd love to hear them all speak.

AlisonDonut · 03/03/2023 07:43

Apart from Boyce, that line up is robust as hell.

TheBiologyStupid · 03/03/2023 11:21

I don't know much about Boyce, although he seems to have attracted some good interviewees?

TheBiologyStupid · 03/03/2023 11:23

Oops, meant to include this great tweet about the event: twitter.com/BookkeeperDoll/status/1631399831758422018

BlueHeelers · 03/03/2023 17:17

Fab line-up. I think Genspect are doing fabulous work - giving parents a space and the children a break.

Resister · 03/03/2023 23:29

The work with detransitioners is very important imo.

This is impressive

WarriorN · 04/03/2023 06:12

Personal opinions and dickish / dick centric comments aside, Boyce has built up an enormous oral history of this idiocy. Particularly also of those researching the issues as well as detransitioners and I think also agp.

He's quite friendly with all of them too.

WarriorN · 04/03/2023 06:14

Same town same time! Wow

Though they normally scrutinise WPATH conferences so I hope they still can!

Alpiniste · 04/03/2023 06:32

Wow! And Killarney is not a big place.

starrynightnotsobright · 04/03/2023 09:53

The 2 venues are very close. Only a few minutes by car, if memory serves me correctly.
I wonder if there will be protests, or if the venue will come under pressure to cancel.

Resister · 07/03/2023 08:54

I hope it opens people's eyes too the fact that WPATH are the self identified kind of gender. Nobody challenged their position previously

Wow. That looks amazing.

I hope people make frequent mention of their promotion of 'eunuch' as a gender identity.

starrynightnotsobright · 12/03/2023 08:55

Reported in today's Sunday Independent.
It's behind a pay wall but it's free to read if you register, I think.

There's an archived copy of The Independent's piece here: archive.ph/0yuW9

TheBiologyStupid · 12/03/2023 12:17

Badly punctuated, it reads like Helen Joyce and Maya are detransitioners!

Among Genspect’s speakers are people who have detransitioned — Ken Zucker, a Canadian-American sexologist, Helen Joyce, the author of the book Trans, and Maya Forstater, an English researcher who won an employment case over her gender-critical views.

Resister · 12/03/2023 23:35

Yes that seems like a very clumsy sentence @TheBiologyStupid . Ken Zucker the well known detransitioner lol

Has anybody been watching the tweets from this conference? It sounds like a huge success and it's an enormous step forward from where we were a couple of years ago.

Well done Genspect, the conference speakers and attendees for challenging gender ideology and the unproven practices that WPATH promotes.

I understand we will eventually be able view all presentations but in the meantime this is from last night.

I'm really enjoying this discussion as it's an overview of many talks they've had - I certainly want to hear Stephanie's talk on children's books.

And interesting to hear that epath (? Or WPATH?) had written a letter to them.

@stellaomalley et al, thank you for what looks like a successful and informative conference.

WarriorN · 29/04/2023 19:35

Stephanie's talk sounds like the sort of thing I could send to a colleague to point out the issues with certain children's books.

Resister · 01/05/2023 04:44

Yes I'm a ticket holder and I received a link to watch the whole thing a couple of hours ago. It's brilliant

I was there.

It was a fantastic few days. Every session was well attended and thoughtfully put together. I look forward to rewatching it all.
