Now they need to get rid of the intersex nonsense. Adults with DSDs know which sex they are.

(My thanks to posters who drew my attention to something inappropriate. MNHQ have therefore deleted the thread and allowed me to start again.)

Oh is this on their census thingy? I didn't look at that

UWhatNow · 28/02/2023 21:26

I saw those questions and immediately thought nope, that survey isn’t for me!

Why? Because it gives everyone a chance to explain how they identify?

Or am I not allowed to identify how I want/how I feel?

Do I have to identify how you want me to?

OneOfThoseOldFashionedWomen · 28/02/2023 21:29

Gutted I missed something inappropriate

PaleBlueMoonlight · 28/02/2023 21:31

Why isn't it just "I don't have a gender identity"?

PaleBlueMoonlight · 28/02/2023 21:32

Or (preferably)"n/a"?

It was neither funny nor salacious Halo

I thought that most people with a DSD were unquestionably of one sex or the other. But there are a few, very rare intersex conditions such as Swyer syndrome and CAIS where it really isn’t that simple. I don’t think MNHQ are wrong to include intersex as an option in the census.

I’m glad that, “I do not consider myself to have a gender identity” has been added as an option for the fourth question.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 28/02/2023 22:55

I thought the options were reasonable.

Yup. This.

I don’t really go around labelling myself as having any particular identity. I’m just me!

NoSquirrels · 28/02/2023 23:49

I really liked having this as an option on the census.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 01/03/2023 00:57

There’s a census?

How you 'feel' is not really relevant, it's not a verifiable, objective fact, so is not necessary on a factual questionnaire (if that's what it is). I have no 'gender identity', I have no idea what that means, just as I have no idea how it feels to be a woman, I just am. If you are thinking about what you identify as then perhaps you need something else to think about?

GoAgainstNicki · 01/03/2023 08:49

I don’t see the problem. The drop down choices seem very reasonable to me

JellySaurus · 01/03/2023 12:28

You assume that facts are the only things relevant. This questionnaire also asks about how the respondent feels about other things.
