More unfair competition in the National XC races tomorrow (25th Feb '23)

Seen on twitter "females will be racing a UKA approved male bodied athlete"
This is important not just from the physical advantage of the male competing against the women, but also because there are different distances! There has been discussion at various levels about competitors running the same distances i.e. females not running a shorter one but IIRC this was rejected so they run 8k compared to the men.
Senior Women Championship (8K)
Senior Men Championship (12K)

Impressed that this runner is preparing to compete in suffragette colours, hope she gets cheered on.

This crap never has a day off does it!

WomaninBoots · 24/02/2023 21:09

Fuck this shit now.

Who is the male runner and how has he been approved? I thought UKA had made a clear statement on this?

ProstheticConscience · 24/02/2023 21:22

It's unclear, there seems to be some info circulating which I haven't seen. The start lists don't reveal anything unless you already know the names, but Mara Yamauchi usually has contacts and seems to be confirming it.
I guess we won't know until tomorrow for certain.
Each of the age groups has a mass start so it's not like most of the competitors will see who is also in their group.

Really disappointing after that statement.

Lollipop999 · 24/02/2023 23:02

There are 2 in our county that I know of, one definitely running tomorrow, both in senior womens category

ProstheticConscience · 24/02/2023 23:24

Good grief!

Here we go, yet more cheating:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11799445/Trans-athlete-WINS-womens-1-500m-event-Canada.html

A -cheating man -transgender woman's victory in a 1,500m running event in Canada has added fuel to the debate around trans women competing in women's sports.

Tiffany -cheating bastard- Newell, 50, placed first in the W50 1,500m, which is open to women aged 50 to 54, at the Canadian Masters Indoor Championships in Toronto, which took place over the weekend.

While only one other person in that age group competed, Newell has repeatedly placed first in women's events, and has set global records in her age category, since transitioning in 2017.

And some more of the same:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11800321/Christian-high-school-girls-basketball-team-forfeits-playoffs-game-against-team-trans-student.html

A Christian prep school in Vermont forfeited a playoff girls basketball game in the state championship tournament after discovering the opposing team had a transgender player on the roster.

The head of the institution, Vicky Fogg, said it would be unfair and unsafe for the high school girls to play against a biologically male player on the other team.

In a statement to Fox News, Fogg wrote: 'We withdrew from the tournament because we believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players. 'Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general.'
