”Given the small number of trans people, especially in a country with the population of Scotland, is nobody with clout giving thought to just how many of these stories there are? Statistically, trans sex offenders should be rarer than hen's teeth.”
Yes. I’ve been trying to work that out.
I think the male population of Scotland is about 2.7 million - of course we don’t have accurate up to date figures yet because they screwed up their census & it won’t be out until next year.
It’s possible there’s a higher percentage of TW there than in England & Wales - more favourable conditions? Moving there in the hope of self-ID and/or getting into politics?
But in E&W it’s 0.1%, I believe, with a 5 times higher likelihood of being currently incarcerated for serious sexual offences.
I’m not clever enough to do the sums... but the rate does seem awfully high in Scotland.
