Don't know whether to laugh of cry I didn't think it would happen in my lifetime considering how far ahead Thomas was.

Good

HipTightOnions · 22/02/2023 13:11

The witless comments though, suggesting this proves Thomas wasn't at an advantage!

Cailin66 · 22/02/2023 13:13

I'd prefer if he was erased from the women's records entirely. And for as long as he remains on there shame on those who allow it.

CompleteGinasaur · 22/02/2023 13:17

I'm probably being a bit cynical, but I can see him poling up to the next meet and taking back the record by just enough to not make it look too obvious...

Was this new record set for a distance where Thomas was a long way ahead, or was it later, when it became apparent that strenuous efforts were being made to only just beat the opposition. This was demonstrated by the timing, with most lengths being taken at female pace, with only the last length showing a huge surge in speed speed, indicating no effort had been made earlier?

There'll be a whole line of them.

Every rubbish male athlete can just start lining up.

MagpiePi · 22/02/2023 13:23

Didn't some trans supporter say that the only reason women didn't do as well as men in sport was because they didn't try hard enough? Maybe LT wasn't trying hard enough to get that record before, which just proves that LT must be a woman.

AngelinaFibres · 22/02/2023 13:41

A video popped yesterday about an American female athlete. She had doped for 10 years and was at the absolute top of her sport. She was caught in the end. The point the video made was that ,even when full of performance enhancing drugs, she was still nowhere near the time of the slowest man to ever run the same race. He was number 4,500 and something in the world but still faster than her.Men should never ever be allowed to compete in women's sports.

That would be the fragrant Veronica Ivy. Also told lesbians to overcome their aversion to penises. Lovely Person

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/02/2023 13:46

It was never Thomas's record in the first place. That belonged to a woman.

Goldpaw · 22/02/2023 13:47

Excellent news.

There was a Twitter article about that, with a load of graphs and statistics, which had been analysed by a sports physiologist and it showed that that was exactly the case. He'd been told to rein it in, as it was so embarrassing.

MrGHardy · 22/02/2023 15:26

Queue the comments saying this proves there is no advantage. Humans are so stupid.

WarningToTheCurious · 22/02/2023 16:08

It’s the Ivy League record, not a national record.

Katie Ledecky’s NCAA Div 1 record is over 50 seconds faster than this new Ivy League record.

WarningToTheCurious · 22/02/2023 16:37

And for context - that time equates to about 16:00 minutes for a 1500m free in a SC pool - Fleur Lewis of Loughborough Uni swam a PB of 16:02 in November 2022.
