Apologies for the daily mail link!

Currently being housed in Scotland’s only woman only prison. They’ve gone to the press unhappy that their case is being reviewed (all transgender prisoners are being reviewed).

I just can’t get past the “identifying as a baby” part! Where does it end?

Does Cornton Vale have a mother and baby unit? Is this separate from the main (female) accommodation? And exclusive to actual mothers with actual babies?

I do recall in the distant past seeing something on TV about a mother and baby unit, it was presented as being quite a beneficial/therapeutic place (under the circumstances of imprisonment).
I haven't heard anything about these for a long time and have no idea if they even exist any more, or what the set up might consist of.

Is his self-identifying as a baby (male or female?) a twisted appropriation of 'vulnerability' - how unkind we are thinking about taking a baby away from all the kind ladies in Corton Vale and locking the baby up with nasty men!

Let's just ignore that this 'baby' is a violent, murderous man capable of strangling to death another human being with a shoelace. Should this man not be in a mens' secure psychiatric unit instead? How fucking dare they think they can dump him in a womens' prison - let's look at all the robust and rigorous decision- making that led to this and name names.

I'm glad to see this appalling situation is still in the media spotlight.

Why are these people being allowed to make a laughing stock of the authorities? A big fat NO would suffice and he needs putting in men's jail.
See if he suddenly "grows up to adulthood"

If they genuinely do accept this person as a baby, then they should most definitely not be locked up in prison. Or in fact allowed to make any decisions that would naturally require a parent to make on their behalf.

If they do accept that this person is old enough to be tried and convicted of a crime and imprisoned for it - and indeed then go on to commit a further murder - then they most clearly are not a baby, and need to be treated and held accountable for everything as an adult.

It cannot be both.
