Bad education-spoiler alert

The last episode of the latest series of bad education had a storyline where a play was being put on. At the last minute in the play they needed a new actor to play Meghan Markle. It was suggested a white female actor would be inappropriate to play her but a black male character would be fine to play her (in fact it was a black male who was due to play her anyway). I don't get why it's ok to parody gender but not race, shouldn't either be seen as unjust?

Sunlight to the illogical nature of the argument?

I'm not sure about that one of the main characters has a female alter ego and there was a whole episode on drag queens.

Can't stand this series, though DH used to like it. Why indeed is it okay to parody sex but not race? Actually, last time I saw a picture of the Duchess of Sussex she looked entirely white caucasian, slightly Mediterranean (like my DD) so a white female would be appropriate. The duchess apparently identified as white until being black was something she could beat the (very welcoming to her) RF and UK population - which, when you think about it, is pretty racist. A black male would be entirely inappropriate to play her (or a black female for that matter) or any woman, of whatever ethnicity - unless we are talking pantomime and the duchess is a dame?
