Apparently Sam Smith would love to be a "fisherm...fisherthem", as stated on The One Show.

This policing of language is becoming utterly insane. Yet even live on TV no one seems to bat an eyelid. They seem more confused by the concept of Sam fishing than the term "fisherthem". Gender is the only are where narcissism isn't just accepted, it's actively celebrated.

What's next? A them-hole cover? Themager? Themdatory?

What does 'fisherthem' even mean? Well, I know it means nothing in the real world but in SS world ... I can't begin to fathom.

I can see why actual fishermen might have fun with the word, laughing about it in the pub after coming ashore safely, because theirs is a very dangerous job. Unlike Sam's job, where the chief danger seems to be getting laughed at.

Is SS a fisherman, do we know? I can't somehow see they in waders, thigh-deep in the cold waters of the River Dee.

Wasn't he the dude that cried his eyes out because stuck in a large house during lockdown?
How on earth does he think he'd be man enough to be a fisherman?
( Anglers - people who put their catch back, generally speaking. It's often seen as a sport., as opposed to those that bring their catch home for supper. )
Anyone can do either of those things, even kids.
Whereas a fisherman would be off out to sea in all weathers, at risk of not coming home again.
He's probably seen the vids of people doing sea shanties and thinks it's all glam, it's not, it's a damned hard and dangerous job, not for the likes of smith!

Meant to add, the perfect example of angling that many of us will be aware of, is the Whitehouse/Mortimer programme.
