Earlier, @Fenlandia posted a link to a tweet on the
" Can anyone direct me to a tweet? " thread.
I clicked on to read it - very interesting in itself and worth the time it took to read it.
Anyhoo, after reading, i continued scrolling, as one does and came across a thread by a guy called Jake Crain
It seems that our Lia might not be the little sweetie-pie that we all think he is, colour me shocked! thanks to some digging by that nasty terf Riley Gains. Shameful, i tell thee, shameful!

She even shamefully talks about the situation on Jake Crains youtube channel

Which in turn becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. It’s not that only Riley is prepared to speak out. It is that only Riley is able to speak out without jeopardising her future. The others almost certainly agree with her, and she will know this.

Right. Which in turn will strengthen that side's impression that the "left" are a bunch of people who have lost their way due to Satan's influence etc - it's very obvious that a lot of people are willing to turn a blind eye to pure evil.

We rather more lefty-inclined folk are possibly more sympathetic that there's some underlying good intentions in there, but this has got to be reinforcing every right-wing preconception about godless "liberals" or whatever...

I'm not interested in Lia Thomas' sexual views or experiences, but I am interested in what types of basic reasons societies would find important enough to decide that some male people are to be allowed into female single-sex spaces despite the possible negative effects for women and girls that this could create.

It's pretty clear that the motivations of different individuals for transitioning differ, yet most of the activists argue that this is not the case but that being transgender is an innate characteristic.

An actual discussion about all this is much overdue. And I would like more discussion on the role misogyny (whether internalised or outward directed) plays in this, because I see lots of it.

From Riley's twitter (video in tweet). Unbelievable!

"Anne Andres (male who identifies and competes as a woman) doesn't understand why female powerlifters are so "bad" at bench press....well idk Anne, but maybe it's because you have 20 times more testosterone than them. Just a thought...."

I am interested in that I think that there is a motive behind the push to reduce women's boundaries and to dismantle safeguarding.

I think that people with genuine dysphoria, intersex people, autistic vulnerable or abused teens, and indeed many LGB people, as well as women are being used or being allowed to be collateral damage.

What male friends tell me is that they do not want to go into women's changing rooms or have gender neutral toilets. Some people do. We saw it with the NSPCC, we saw it with Mermaids Trustees, we saw it with that NUS bloke. We see it here as well. I think the Q+ is driving the agenda and not serving the interests of others well.

God, what an idiot.

Why are men so bad at getting pregnant? I literally don't understand it.

Indeed. The question I was trying to get at is what kinds of justifications would make a society view being transgender as a human right issue.

Would it suffice to want to transition because of internalised misogyny or for reasons similar to those discussed here? And given that rights of this type actually are very much a pie, what rights or types of safety should women be expected to sacrifice for these reasons? (Men are never expected to sacrifice anything here).

Currently the activists argue that all transgender people are the same in motivations, having always known that they are the other sex or that they are neither sex, and there is an implication that this is immutable and innate.

But actual observations refute this argument as a wholesale one (including statements by many transgender and detrans people). So we need to discuss the various cases in public.
