"Michelle Thomson, SNP MSP for Falkirk East, said that the decision to house the violent inmates in a women’s prison was “impossible to believe”. She said the prison authorities had failed to give “any consideration to women with trauma” and added: “If they had, they would simply not have considered placing self-identifying trans women murderers and rapists within the female estate.”

The four convicted murderers are:

• Alex Stewart, formerly Alan Baker, was jailed for life for murder in 2013 after stabbing the victim, John Weir, 16 times in Bonhill, Dunbartonshire.

• Sophie Eastwood, formerly Daniel Eastwood, then 19, was convicted of murder after strangling Paul Algie at a young offenders’ institution in Dumfries in 2004. That sentence was increased for an attack on a prison guard, before Eastwood reportedly self-identified as a woman in 2018. Eastwood is now said to identify as an infant and wants all meals “blended like baby food”.

• Paris Green, formerly Peter Laing, was jailed for a minimum of 18 years in 2013 for the murder of Robert Shankland, 45, in Glenrothes, Fife.

• Melissa Young, once Richard McCabe, was convicted of the murder of a neighbour in Edinburgh, Alan Williamson, on Christmas Day 2013. The victim sustained 29 stabbing injuries."

I suppose Stonewall would have them categorised as "individuals".

It's not remotely surprising. It's exactly what you'd expect to happen if you give violent males an easy route into women's spaces. Except now they're not women's. They're mixed sex.

The speed of the U-turn Scotland is taking once the reality of this dumb policy hits the public glare is interesting though. Even if these individuals are genuinely trans they're still highly dangerous people.
Not a lot of commitment to TWAW when it looks like a vote loser. SNP are wedded to this because of their arrangements with the Green party.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: “All trans men and trans women in our care are risk assessed.”

How the bloody hell can a risk assessment put them into a prison with women, when, as Kate Colman says, it results in significant problems, including sexual exhibitionism, harassment, stalking, sexual threats, inappropriate sexual relationships and violent assault.

What is the specific risk that they have deemed unlikely to happen? Actual murder? So everything up to and including assault is a known risk because it's actually happening, and it's fine, but they probably won't go as far as to murder a woman, so that's it, all boxes ticked??

As others have said, it's difficult to believe.

There must be a word for the phenomenon, that something is so difficult to believe, that, despite knowing it's true, people really do struggle to believe it. That there must be something more to it. That there must be some vital piece of information they're missing, which has led a female politician to deliberately put male murderers into women's prisons.

To be logically consistent, NS will have to refer to these creeps as she / her
and say that their presence does not negatively impact on women at all. She will also have to explain why rape is more serious than murder when it comes to woman's safety.

It's the same thing cropping up time and again when I read about GIDs and the teenage girl transitioners. Nobody thought about their experience or background at all, either as a girl in a sexualised society or what the puberty blockers would do to their health.

Female politicians are not immune to it. Plus, they have the option of feigned ignorance. Who cares about a bunch of female inmates out of sight and mind?

So they are behaving in the female estate exactly as could have been predicted- and yet only now it's an issue? Except not really an issue as they are doing absolutely fuck all about it?

I want a public enquiry into the whole way the entire trans rights issue has unfolded in Scotland. I want answers, and I want accountability.

I wish I was more shocked and surprised, but I'm not. What is it that enables us to predict how criminal minds work, but not the people who work every day with criminals?

Oh they know. They just don't care. It's 'normal' for women to be expected to tolerate male violence. It is expected, that women will adapt to cope. God forbid any constraints were placed on poor little vulnerable abusers.
