...they now consider calling Sam Smith a "he" a gaffe. Ranvir clearly isn't blind.

It's deliberate. Everyone knows what Smith's birth sex is, no matter what he identifies as. The Mail have picked this issue up and are doing sterling work highlighting what's happening in schools, the NHS and politics.
The fact that an intelligent woman like Ranvir has to self correct for accurately sexing someone merely shows up what nonsense this all is.

Harikrishnan is a menswear designer. Does he need to rebrand himself as a "they/them wear designer".

I guess he can say he's branched out into non-binary of a particular indefinable male kind.

'Sam Smith uses the pronouns they/them'. No - Sam Smith expects everyone else to remember to use the pronouns they them when talking about Sam. Imagine if Sam Smith actually only used the pronouns they and them - never 'I, me, you, he she, it'! What are you doing today Sam? 'They're taking their dog for a walk then feeding they and meeting their mum for lunch, they are looking forward to they.'

You make an excellent point @Wellies54. I read somewhere that someone was going to use pronouns 'I/I', which lead to much confusion, and hilarity. Think I will adopt that if pushed....

This is why if I'm ever forced to put pronouns on my work email I intend to state 'please use the pronouns you think most appropriate when referring to me in the third person'

@Pudmyboy Thanks!

To be honest, dictating pronouns really is ridiculous and totally unworkable and I think it will quietly fall out of fashion. I overheard some teenage boys joking about someone identifying as a mouse - I couldn't quite hear what the pronouns were but they were laughing!

I know you're right, but the fact they call it a gaffe is what annoyed me about it.

I/me/my pronouns would be hilarious. I'm just so pleased my company is the opposite of woke, so no need for it.
