Tavistock Clinic the truth finally comes out

Tavistock scandal ‘on a par with East German doping of athletes’

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/e04f4958-aa26-11ed-8a03-b2faadede0c5?shareToken=73b0cd03fa6af110ba0ff4565068f830

I hope the share token works. For years puberty blockers and changing gender identities has been promoted by so many NHS and educational organisations. I really hope that this is an indication the bubble will finally burst and all this permanent damage being done to children will be stopped.

Those poor kids.

ArabellaScott · 12/02/2023 16:42

Heartbreaking.

Happylittlechicken · 12/02/2023 17:19

Bloody hell! Those poor poor children! Every adult who had a hand in this deserves to be prosecuted. They won’t be though.

TiaI · 13/02/2023 18:59

That’s shocking. There’s something seriously alarming that 1/3 are autistic compared with 2% of population.

cravingtoblerone · 13/02/2023 19:03

Massive massive safeguarding fails. Someone needs to be held accountable for this.

RobinStrike · 13/02/2023 19:41

No one is being held to account. They have admitted they didn't track anyone to check on long term side effects, but despite this they expanded the programme to more or less anyone who wanted them and with only a cursory inquiry into their mental health.
The NHS, all political parties, education and psychological institutions, CAMHS are all captured by Stonewall and Mermaids and Gendered Intelligence. The long term effects are devastating and leave these children with permanent health defects and a non existent sex life if they go on to surgery. Sinead Watson and Ritchie Herron have outlined their experiences in the press.
I do believe the headline, it will become a scandal in the future, but the parents who have supported their children through this won't want to believe they were duped by the whole gender ideology and that it hasn't been the best for their children. I do feel for them.

The mental and physical damage done to these children cannot be reversed. It's appalling

Pixiedust1234 · 13/02/2023 19:54

Children as young as three, already living as the opposite gender with a changed name, appearance and pronouns, were referred to the service.

Munchausen by proxy springs to mind. I think the clinic were treating the wrong people. Pity they didn't employ anyone competent in mental health in families ...

FrancescaContini · 13/02/2023 20:02

So many abhorrent facts detailed here, not least that a three-year-old child (changed name, changed pronouns 🧐) had been referred to the clinic.

So many adults - parents and medical professionals - failing the children in their care. It’s totally sickening.

HebeMumsnet · 13/02/2023 21:10

Evening, everyone. We've moved this thread over to the Sex & Gender topic within Feminism.

Evening, everyone. We've moved this thread over to the Sex & Gender topic within Feminism.

Why, this article is first and foremost about a medical scandal and it's in everyone's interest to read it. It concerns boys, men, girls, women, doctors, mental health professionals, teachers, parents, policymakers.

rogdmum · 13/02/2023 21:34

Why has this been moved over here? While I greatly appreciate this section and the support I get here, this is a children’s health issue not a feminist one- plenty boys have gone through the Tavistock and discussion shouldn’t be limited to this board.

Agree, not sure that a similar article about a maternity unit would have been moved

HebeMumsnet · 13/02/2023 21:42

Evening again. The thread was originally posted in Feminism Chat and we felt it would sit better in Feminism: Sex and Gender. Had it originally been a Children's Health thread or an In the News Thread, it might well have been left there, but as it was already in the feminism topics, we felt it would be better moved here, where discussions about sex and gender generally take place.

FigRollsAlly · 13/02/2023 21:43

This was on the front page of the Sunday Times but because some people want to stick their heads in the sand it ends up over here, in the naughty corner. Why is Mumsnet still doing this even now that all the evidence is clearly laid out?

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 13/02/2023 21:52

This should be on the Special Needs board. Welsh Government said linking transgenderism to autism was wrong in their latest report but it isn’t wrong is it?

There do seem to be some posters in that 'feminism' section who are extremely keen on policing women's speech. Their feminism seems to be more concerned with including men than with working for women's political or social liberation.

It seems that children with autism are hugely overrepresented in referrals to the Tavi. Approx. 30%.

Hi. I was trying to post in the most appropriate place. I really feel it's an alarming report that would have wider interest. I'm fairly new on Mumsnet and probably haven't looked around enough. Would you suggest In the News for it to gain more views? Thanks.

I could post the article again elsewhere?

ClaudiusTheGod · 13/02/2023 22:37

‘Mermaids declined to comment’.

Nothing to say any more eh? Are they all lawyered up? I hope someone gets taken to the cleaners over this. I won’t name names but one of their erstwhile members should be doing jail time for this. All because her husband didn’t want a little effeminate boy.

rogdmum · 13/02/2023 22:39

@RobinStrike This is really on MNHQ. There is already a lengthy thread about this here:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4740621-tavistock-scandal-on-a-par-with-east-german-doping-of-athletes-top-of-times-home-page-tonight

So it didn’t make sense for MNHQ to move your thread here as well as it’s a duplicate. Really they should have moved it to children’s health or the news etc.

You could ask them to move it again, or just leave it if you’d rather.

RobinStrike · 13/02/2023 22:41

Thanks Rogdmum I really haven't found all the boards. I hadn't seen it anywhere and thought it ought to be seen. I will look at the other thread.

Utterly horrific that this could happen to vulnerable children by those who were supposed to use medical science. Those poor children have been so badly let down with the only winners being the lawyers who will be watching and waiting.

Britinme · 14/02/2023 14:26

Good link in the Telegraph too. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/02/14/tavistock-clinic-ignored-link-autism-transgender-children/
