”Josh Alexander, 16 years old, who went to St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Renfrew, Ontario […] was suspended for protesting trans bathrooms, with the school telling him, according to the Epoch Times, that his presence would be “detrimental to the physical and mental well-being” of transgender students. Adding more details, the Epoch Times reported that:”

”He hasn’t attended school since November, when he was first suspended. He had organized a protest against transgender students using the girls’ washrooms. He had also said in class discussions that there are only two, immutable genders.”

Brave boy, good luck to him.

Oh dear. Is Josh an ' occasion of sin ' as the Church would refer to awkward heretics in days of yore 😂.

The RCC has truly done a somersault but they still know how to ostracise people.

An occasion of sin isn’t a reference to a heretic

Well I'm using the term in its broadest sense. Anyone who refused to go to mass could be an occasion of sin in my parents' time.

My understanding was that an occasion of sin is a term referring to the situation that could lead to a particular sin.

People should try to avoid that as a way of preventing the sin in the first place.

So, if on a Sunday you were to go back to bed to snooze instead of getting up, you would be setting yourself up as likely to miss Mass.

The ‘occasion’ for sin is going back to bed. The sin is missing Mass. They are separate.

So much for the physical and mental well-being of the natal girls.

Grammarnut · 10/02/2023 20:18

Doubt he is in a state of sin, however. Why has the RC jumped on this bandwagon?

SapphireSeptember · 11/02/2023 13:59

Why are they (the Catholic church) capitulating? They know very well who to suppress based on sex. 🙄

GCAcademic · 11/02/2023 14:01

Does the Catholic Church accept transmen into the priesthood now?

donquixotedelamancha · 11/02/2023 14:16

This isn't the Catholic Church, it's a Catholic school. I don't know what the relationship between the two is in Canada but, at most, the Church would have limited influence rather than control.

Even then I'm surprised any Catholic school would take the stance as described in that one sided article- it's contrary to church teaching. I suspect there is a lot more to this boys conduct.
