Fuck. He was charged with rape and abduction.

So much for the wee girl being found "safe and well" Angry

www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/man-charged-rape-abduction-after-29241537

Fuck. I'm not surprised in the least but I was really hoping that when the police announced they had found her "safe and well" they didn't just mean "alive". How the fuck is found raped "safe and well"?!

How come he is still being reported as a man, with his male name, and not as a transwoman? I don't want him referred to as a woman AT ALL but the fact that he is trans, and has been "Amy" for some years, seems to be bring pushed under the carpet.

picklemewalnuts · 17/02/2023 13:06

Fucker. Bastardy fucker

That poor child, and no anonymity.

All the alternative genders- butcher, kidnapper, individual etc. he was a fucking rapist after all.

nilsmousehammer · 17/02/2023 13:07

Oh God that poor child.

Bloody lucky the police got there before it got any worse.

If I was being hopeful I would say because people are starting to wise up. If I was being cynical I would say because no real TW would ever commit a crime ever...

DialSquare · 17/02/2023 13:11

That poor poor girl. My heart breaks for her.

I can't post what I'd like to do to that fucking monster.

mrshoho · 17/02/2023 13:14

My heart goes to the wee girl. I'm sickened by this. He is the worst kind of vile monster.

Oh that is such awful news. That poor child.

I had hoped given the prior charges that that was it, so sad that there was more to come.

Helleofabore · 17/02/2023 13:41

It really is getting to the point where you cannot trust media.

ArabellaScott · 17/02/2023 13:45

All my thoughts with that girl and her family. Good god. Flowers

Maybe Sturgeon had advance information about the charges this man faces and that contributed to her scarpering rather than face another grilling re his gender and the appropriate prison for him.

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 17/02/2023 13:55

Fuckity fuck.

The one thing we all desperately hoped hadn’t happened.

I hope no expense is being spared in the support of this girl and her family.
An 11 year old should be able to play with friends on a Sunday afternoon and get home safely.

scratchedbymycat · 17/02/2023 13:56

My DD is 11. This poor dear girl. The thought of what she endured is unbearable.

Heart breaking, but sadly not surprising. That poor girl.

guinnessguzzler · 17/02/2023 14:06

Awful news, poor girl, I hope she is getting good support. What an absolute bastard.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 17/02/2023 14:27

How the fuck is found raped "safe and well"?!

Absolutely agree; fwiw, this usage has been a thing for many years. I remember learning as much about six or seven years ago following a different local missing girl case that also turned into a rape trial.

I imagine it’s meant to protect the victim’s privacy just a little bit when they’re first found.

It is distressing though when you realise how many times you’ve heard the expression over the years and assumed that it actually did mean safe and well.

DuesToTheDirt · 17/02/2023 14:28

Poor kid. I'm surprised this is getting reported though, as she has no anonymity (would it be possible block reporting on it though? I'm not sure).

Blister · 17/02/2023 14:29

The link between police, media and diversity trainers needs auditing. Anyone who thought a girl abducted and raped was found safe and well does not understand women at all.

scratchedbymycat · 17/02/2023 14:30

I agree. I think it probably means "not dead". A poster on another thread commented it could have been heading that way which totally chilled me. It probably was. How on earth could he have ever released her and got away with it? What other options had he left himself? I feel quite sick.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 17/02/2023 14:34

Agree @scratchedbymycat

It makes you think surely he’s done it before, or something before without being caught, as this just doesn’t seem like a typical first offense — I mean, what do I know, but just the sheer boldness and extreme nature of it.

I’m not trying to armchair detect, honestly, it’s just — it’s scary.

Blister · 17/02/2023 14:35

I'm fairly certain rape takes you out of the "safe and well" and into the "life changing" category... this could have been reported and it feels like the information was withheld. I hope this was at the family's request and not to save someone else. It needs investigating. There's no point me speculating.. but if we say nothing, nothing will be done.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 17/02/2023 14:40

Truly, while I get that it sounds all kinds of wrong, it is established practice to say ‘safe and well’ in these circs.

It’s not new, and it’s not something they do for the perpetrator’s sake. It’s not intended to shield him.

They could hardly come out and say the victim had been found traumatised by sexual assault/rape, because at that stage her name was still all over the press because of the ongoing search for her. Huge violation of her privacy to say anything indicating what she’d been through.

Also they may not yet have known, if she was not ready to explain fully.

WickedSerious · 17/02/2023 14:43

Lock the bastard up and throw away the key.

Honestly, if it was my DD, I'd ask the police to say whatever allows her to recover as privately as possible. I'd then spend the rest of my days trying to work out how to make this bastard pay.

A friend and I were baffled by his timing, given the hatred directed at Isla Bryson literally the week before. She speculated that that and the GRR bill may have been factors in triggering him. That seems plausible to me.

picklemewalnuts · 17/02/2023 15:22

"Also they may not yet have known, if she was not ready to explain fully."

But this, though. Obviously.

She won't have been able to talk about her experiences. She won't have had the language.
