I'm sorry, but if prisoners can just change their mind depending on where they want to spend their sentence then that indicates to me this isn't something that they have to be, it's a choice!

yeah, I'm sure that this person is a thoroughly bad apple, but it's just unthinkable to put an individual with, putting it crudely, female sexual organs, in a men's prison, it'd be tantamount to an explicit recommendation for repeated rape to be a part of her sentencing.

I suppose a generous interpretation of twaw/tmam is that they're both somewhere in the territory of being partly true/being true from a certain point of view/being a 'kind' white lie with relatively few victims in most circumstances... but a prison sentence, for anyone, is really the ultimate form of reality biting, making it very time for the above half truths to be at least in the short term swept comprehensively aside.

The hypocrisy is notable, but she’s physically safer in a female unit. Prisoners should be housed according to their sex.

Gender shouldn’t factor into the decision. Vulnerable prisoners who’ve taken actual steps to ‘transition’ (not just clicked the heels of their newly purchased sparkly shoes) should be kept on a segregated wing, so any risks from other prisoners can be managed.
