Haha, I just wrote to my SNP MP about the GRR and how it had cost them my support, and I nearly mentioned the Poll Tax. I had quite enough to say though so I dropped that bit in the end.

I am now politically homeless though. As a left-winger, I can't vote for the Tories. As a feminist, I can't vote SNP, Green, or Labour (though I may still vote for my SNP MSP Ash Regan). I don't have to agree with everything a party stands for in order to vote for them, but this is a deal-breaker for me.

“In September 2021, weeks after changing his name from Graham to Annie Bryson and while awaiting trial, Bryson, by now living in North Ayrshire, attempted to enrol in a self-defence programme offered to female victims of domestic violence and sexual assault by the Scottish Centre for Personal Safety.”

Jesus. Thank god he was refused.

Really excellent piece. Alex Massie is doing a consistently brilliant job on this stuff.

Thanks for sharing.
