How can Nicola Sturgeon tell when a man is not a woman!?!

BBC article [https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-64501436] - I am now totally lost - if I, a GC woman, suggest that a bloke could pretend to be a woman for nafarious purposes I am a TERF who should be hounded out of my job, threatened with violence etc etc and NS's legislation enshrines the right of any man who 'feels' like a women to effectively 'be' a woman. Yet NS can somehow decide that this man is not a woman?!?
I really don't get it - I am told that I must believe that any man can say he is a woman and trans women are women and that I have no right to question any of this nonsense and must accept these blokes into single sex spaces, all women shortlists, rape crisis centres, prisons, women's wards, doing intimate physical examinations on me etc etc but magically NS is able to say that this one bloke is an exception (without breaching any of the preceding nonsense about man = woman when he says so).
My head is going to explode!!!!

I had the same response to that article OP. Alongside the absolute rage that she hasn’t listened to a thing women have been saying all along.

None of it makes any sense, this is yet another give your head a shake moments

So is Sturgeon saying that a biological woman convicted of rape (as in being an integral part of the crime - not penetrating by penis) should go to a male prison because it is the crime that matters not the gender? Do we now segregate prisons by crimes? Did Elizabeth Fry campaign for that back in the day?

What a load of fakery bollocks the whole thing is.

I might disagree with her if she was but at least it would be logically consistent but no she's saying TWAW except if they commit rape then they are rapist gender and everyone who is rapist gender must go to a male prison unless they are a woman.

Hope I've cleared that up for everyone.

Signalbox · 02/02/2023 21:17

She's been caught in a lie. Her position is completely inconsistent. She says she believes that TWAW and that no man would say that they are trans to gain access to women and that women who raise this as a concern are transphobes, homophobes and racist.

At the same time she thinks that it is “almost certainly” the case that convicted rapist Isla Bryson is not truly transgender, agreeing that she is only claiming to be so as “an easy way out”.

So claiming to be trans is now an "easy way out"? I thought trans women were the most oppressed, marginalised, vulnerable, minority that ever existed in the entirety of human kind. If she believes this to be true (which it obviously isn't) why does she think that claiming to be trans would make a person's life easier?

Also she's been quite vague on what basis she thinks that this individual is not trans or not a "woman". If it's because they are a rapist does that mean she thinks that no rapist can be trans? If she thinks this then rapists should be excluded from applying for GRCs and any TW with a GRC who rapes should have their "legal" sex changed back to male.

That's a cracking wee example of "No true Scotsman" Nicola.

PerilousErection · 02/02/2023 21:22

Now, is Nicola -

  1. A massive Terf
  2. A big fat liar
  3. Someone who can see into people's souls like Layla Moran

I'm going with 2. She knows TWANW but she can't say it.

HappySonHappyMum · 02/02/2023 22:31

Well Nicola Sturgeon clearly has special powers - we just ask her to verify every trans woman who applies for a gender recognition certificate as she can obviously see who is for real and who is swinging the lead just with a quick look. Problem solved. Can she honestly not see what she's actually done by trying to get this piece of legislation passed? Does she truly believe in it - because if she did that bloke would be in a women's prison right now. Or is she just bloody stupid?

Merrymouse · 02/02/2023 22:53

But presumably you can only tell once the rapist has been convicted, which in Bryson’s case was years after committing the crime and being charged.

Before that he was free to insist that, as a woman, he must be free to apply fake tan to female students.

It all makes sense now. Nicola is so confident in her special powers there is no need for any safeguarding in the GRR, she's personally going to do all the case by case risk assessments. Phew, I'm so reassured now.

Layla Moran will provide holiday cover.

As he will be when he's completed his sentence.

We need to be shouting about non-convicted rape statistics a bit more. Any time a woman brings it up in this recent argument, it gets shut down. But it shows this policy for the nonsense that it is.

All the politicians are now agreeing that the rapist obviously shouldn't be in a women's prison. But only 1% of rapes are convicted. So even if they agree to exclude all the convicted rapists from prisons and GRCs, almost all rapists still get a pass. The only way to exclude all rapists from prisons is to exclude all men.

JustWaking · 03/02/2023 06:50

Exclude them from women's prisons, obviously. Men's prison is exactly where rapists should be.
