Shadow Justice Secretary, Steve Reed, says TW convicted of violence should not be sent to a women's prison

And this is apparently the official Labour Party line. He also indicates they should be excluded from women's refuges. Although he caveats with case by case basis nonsense. Has he consulted with Kier Starmer and the rest of the muppets in his party?

Susannah Reid is so on this. GMB have been really good covering this topic the last couple of days - probably because ITV got the NS clusterfuck interview, but even so, good to see a proper in-depth discussion, with no "be kind" emotive shite on mainstream TV. Sunlight.

Oooh - that's so close isn't it. Labour are moving closer to terfery every day. Now we need these journalists to ask IF these transwomen must not be placed in women's prisons, what will Labour say to Marks & Spencer, the local swimming pool, sporting governing bodies who are welcoming the same sex offending / violent transwomen (and the non offending ones) into once sex segregated spaces?
How are women to tell the difference?

TightFistedWozerk · 01/02/2023 15:30

Women's prisons are for biological women. He actually said that. He'll be off to the gulag for that.

TangledWebOfDeception · 01/02/2023 15:31

Still not good enough. All men (males) should be kept out of the female prison estate.

Women's prisons are for biological women.

CORRECT.

Itisbetter · 01/02/2023 15:31

Who knows people might be able to vote for them in the future.

maddy68 · 01/02/2023 15:32

Many men get raped in a men's prison by rapist's. It's the sex crime that needs separating not the sex /gender

AlisonDonut · 01/02/2023 15:33

No mate.

No male should be in a female prison - that's the point of them being female.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 01/02/2023 15:34

maddy that's a men's problem to fix.

FOJN · 01/02/2023 15:35

I wonder if we will get any clarification about child rapists? Lisa Nandy seemed to think it would be fine for them to be housed in women's prisons.

Personally I don't care if a man is sentenced for not paying his TV license, he has no place in a women's prison regardless of how he identifies.

We cannot trust politicians to act with women's interests as a priority.

JacquelinePot · 01/02/2023 15:36

TW convicted of violence Men should not be sent to a women's prison.

Fixed it

Lottapianos · 01/02/2023 15:37

FASCINATING to hear that Labour suddenly give a shit about keeping women safe. What a smug fucker. So bloody pleased with himself and his 'clear answer' at the start

They can take their 'case by case' bollocks and fuck off.

FOJN · 01/02/2023 15:37

Did he say "other women"?

Male on male violence in men's prisons needs to be addressed. But this has nothing to do with women.

In a woman-only prison, no woman can be raped by another prisoner. If there are any male prisoners there those women are now at risk of being raped. Why do you want to subject women to the risk of being raped?

titchy · 01/02/2023 15:38

Feel free to campaign for separate prisons for rapists.

FOJN · 01/02/2023 15:47

They are still not getting it.

Toilets aren't an issue - he should tell that to the 10 and 12 year old victims of Katie Dolatowski.

Case by case can get in the fucking bin. The evidence shows our politicians are incapable of risk assessing. The most effective safeguarding is no men in female spaces ever.

endofthelinefinally · 01/02/2023 15:47

Who is to say that the TW convicted on fraud, who is allowed to go in a women's prison, might not be one of the thousands of males who has committed a rape but not been convicted? How do we know?

FOJN · 01/02/2023 15:50

Absolutely. Amazing he can quote the appalling stats on rape case convictions and not make that connection. There are tens of thousands of rapists who have never seen the inside of a prison cell.

Imnobody4 · 01/02/2023 15:50

FOJN · 01/02/2023 15:37

Did he say "other women"?

Yes he did! It jumped out at me. Interesting that he's recognising the bar being conviction of a crime. It seems he thinks it's ok to allow a transwoman into women's toilets so they can commit the sexual assault in the first place. So much for safeguarding.

Well quite. And even if not rape, sharing communal showers, where women's dignity is compromised by him and his hard on; and what about consensual sex and pregnancy, should that be being encouraged? Is it risk assessed, because the risk is only on one party in the case of pregnancy.

I'd be interested whether there are any criminology studies that show a progression from crimes of dishonesty to violence and sexual crimes, or a prevailing co-existence of the two types of crime in male convicts.

Women's prisons are for biological women.

Promising start, Labour. Keep going.

RudsyFarmer · 01/02/2023 15:58

I want them to go back to asking them
if TWAW straight after that well rehearsed nonsense.

Boiledbeetle · 01/02/2023 15:59

So the convicted rapist can't go in the women's prison.

But he can go into the women's toilet to commit the rape that puts him in prison.

No mate. You stil don't Fucking get it.

MoirasSaggyBundles · 01/02/2023 16:01

I mean, he doesn't get it, he doesn't care about women, but the house of cards is falling. He can look as smug as he likes declaring that Labour won't put TW rapists in with women prisoners, but he can't justify that to the TRAs without being a terf. I am just hoping Labour realise you cannot win with the absolute genuflection and adherence to the cult that the TRAs require; and that women will not stand for the bullshit case by case method that just puts us in danger, and renders the entire female population a giant petrie dish, for a social experiment to validate males at the risk of the safety and wellbeing of women.

Datun · 01/02/2023 16:03

So all all those violent rapists he's saying shouldn't be in a women's prison, are suddenly not a problem when they're in a woman's changing room or following 12 year old girls into their toilets??

These people.

It never, ever occurs to them to wonder what women's lives are like, does it?

There are an infinite number more male rapists, sex offenders, bullies, intimidators and creeps outside of prison than there ever will be inside.

Helleofabore · 01/02/2023 16:04

maddy68 · 01/02/2023 15:32

Many men get raped in a men's prison by rapist's. It's the sex crime that needs separating not the sex /gender

Err, no.

It could be said to be both.

But the SEX of prisoners AND refuge service users (accommodation plus the option for single SEX group sessions) also needs to be separated.

Why are you so determined that female people be put into positions that harm them?

Datun · 01/02/2023 16:04

maddy68 · 01/02/2023 15:32

Yes, male violence is a scourge.

As it happens, no woman on Earth commits male violence.

And men commit 99% of all human violence.

Sort yourselves out.
