I like the comment 'that can happen with manginas. Have you tried dilating?'

😂

DialSquare · 01/02/2023 09:37

Loving the comments!

DonatellaBella · 01/02/2023 09:40

I just had a look at their online shop out of mild interest. Kind of ironic they have a lot of "proud feminist" and "smash the patriarchy" type merch, when they support TRAs and ban women who believe in biology.

MenopausalMe · 01/02/2023 09:43

Not going to waste my money supporting a group that is happy to erase women

I’ve never in my life thought so much about what causes I’ll support and what products I’ll boycott as I do now. Nice that it’s coincided with when I have more money.

Boiledbeetle · 01/02/2023 09:59

Serves them right for being dickheads

Emmamoo89 · 01/02/2023 10:06

""A new curator decided to claim that an introverted penis could be a vagina" she said matter of fuckedly"

😂

They - like the "Feminist Library" and the fucking Fawcett Society - and all the others that have betrayed women as sex class, deserve to fold.

THEY HAD ONE JOB.

Fenlandia · 01/02/2023 10:21

As a few tweeters have pointed out, it's very transphobic of the Art Newspaper to claim this place was dedicated to the female reproductive system!

Good! Arseholes

I think that one is still open! 😂

Cheekymaw · 01/02/2023 10:37

Can I add Glasgow Women's Library to that list as well? Absolute fuckwits who took an amazing feminist resource and turned it into a "Be Kind " travesty of submission. Sink to the bottom of the sea the lot of them.

“The Vagina museum is the kind of organisation the industry needs. They support striking workers and call out ableist recruitment practices.

.......... which is really the main function of any museum, isn't it? Particularly ones about vaginas. 🙄

The similarity to Mermaids is striking. It's an all hold hands and disappear up own bottoms situation.

Helleofabore · 01/02/2023 10:48

Goodness! Were they trying to come again!

I had not heard.

This! In fact it was in The Vagina Museum's FAQ that I first came across the phrase "the female reproductive system is a transphobic term".

All these places are involved in a mass cultural appropriation of feminism so huge they're completely oblivious to what they're doing. They want the draw of feminist slogans, the grouping together, the righteousness, they appropriate VAWG to gain attention.... And then they invite men in without consent and hand all of this over to the patriarchy. Rejecting the very principles that all the stuff they've stolen was built upon. Stupid, privileged, biased fools.

Daffodilsandtuplips · 01/02/2023 11:56

I thought the title was from a man complaining about his lack of sex from his partner. I was about to tear him a new one. I’ll get my coat.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 01/02/2023 15:36

Can we have nothing for ourselves? This could have been a great resource for women, and a very interesting place to visit.

What we got was a pair of used knickers, some posters with inaccurate information and an inexplicably large glitter tampon. And that was it. Nothing meaningful and lots that was untrue.

I'm adding this to the pile of disappointments listed above. and my own vagina.

nilsmousehammer · 01/02/2023 15:38

It was set up from the original planning stages to separate the concept of the female reproductive system from females and re allocate it to men.

Which is largely why, despite a lot of tutting and reproachful looks shot their way, women have refused to fund it or mourn its repetitive crises.

DerekFaker · 01/02/2023 16:01

Oh dear what a shame how sad never mind.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 01/02/2023 17:17

What a shame.

IcakethereforeIam · 01/02/2023 17:27

I had a look at the article followed it to the original tweet and was surprised to fine so many supportive comments and relatively few calling out their handmaidening. So I went back to the tweet with the article and there I found my people. The vagina museum should have spent less time blocking and more time on their business. Cowards as well as idiots.

Brilliant 😂
The comments are interesting though. All "oh dear never mind" with only one that I could see shouting transphobia. On Twitter.

KatMcBundleFace · 01/02/2023 18:19

I was amused to see the PCS Union at the V&A tweet about this.

Seriously though, can't the Queer Museum give them a space?

nepeta · 01/02/2023 18:44

At least one of their Twitter people gave us the wonderful name of 'vulva people', to replace what used to be called women and girls, so as to be kind to those who identify as something else but have vulvas and, probably more importantly, so as to be kind to those who identify as women but have prostates and so on.

For a seemingly feminist organisation to choose to strip most women and girls of their names, words, etc. in order to please a very small minority, however marginalised some parts of it are, looks to me something the patriarchy would order to happen.

Floating body parts in the air, we are, as the web page of the museum told us that fifty percent of people somehow mysteriously get a vagina at birth, but nobody seems to know why and who they are.
