Elite sports people speaking up!

1000 replies

Signalbox · 30/01/2023 10:29

There seems to be an increasing number of sports people speaking up about the problem of males completing in women's sports which is positive. Thought it might be useful to have a thread of those who are risking sticking their heads above the parapet. Obviously the likes of Sharon Davies, Mara Yamauchi and Martina Navratilova have been bravely doing this for sometime but now we appear to have a few current athletes as well who are prepared to risk the mob to ensure women have fair competition. Is it too much to hope for that there will be a snowball effect?

The narrative is shifting from 'there is no harm to women' to 'yes, it harms women but its worth it and you should support it'.

Based on delusionality. Like all of this.

No thank you! It was such a powerful comment.

Argggghhh how can people not see that if you let men into women's sport the 'group most at risk of being harmed' is women? And when it comes to contact sports that is actually, real bodily harm not hurt feelings.

The people that do point out that allowing TW in female sport is unfair and unsafe are shouted down as either men telling women what to do or as transphobes.

Can’t think who Bridge’s mother might have been accusing Pike, Devine, Hilton, Lundberg et al of exactly this as a result of their very recent paper pointing out that the IOC is fucking over women athletes.

Ahh that explains all the hair flicking, because they are worth it. Shame women don't appear worthy of safety, fairness and dignity.

Froodwithatowel · 25/03/2024 17:16

Just reflect for a moment, as Scotland ensure that women can have recorded non crimes that will affect their working lives by a miffed man with no power of justice or recourse in a way that Stalin would be proud.

If it is permitted and accepted and openly discussed as if it's normal and sane, that sometimes it is necessary and right to harm women and remove their equality and even their safety in order to benefit men, in the name of the greater good?

Women's rights have just gone somewhere very, very dangerous, cheered on by men whose motives I am really, seriously starting to question.

What kind of a bloody world are your daughters going to grow up in?

Brilliant, and this does seem fair

At the NAIA's national convention, the Council of Presidents determined that beginning Aug. 1, 'only students whose biological sex is female' may compete in women's sports. That includes transgender men or nonbinary students who are not receiving masculinizing hormones.

I bet some fucker will sue though.

Holy shit Lynne Pinches shared this podcast clip on her Twitter. It’s an excruciatingly bad take. In a nutshell it’s two blokes saying that women should “be kind” and train harder but also that the only disadvantage men have over women in pool is during menstruation when women suffer from cognitive disadvantage for a short period of time. It’s so scary that men like this exist!

Former Chelsea footballer Eni Aluko getting it in the neck after speaking out

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13323505/Chelseas-LGBTQ-supporters-group-transphobic-Eni-Aluko-JK-Rowling.html

She was also targeted by that vile prick Barton.

Crumbs I've just searched her name on Twitter/X.

I don't think I've ever seen so much vitriol directed towards a person.
And not just related to the trans issue either.

I think Aluko was interviewed by Marianna Spring for her Why Do You Hate Me podcast - that was quite an eye opener.

Well done girls...

https://www.outkick.com/sports/west-virginia-girls-protest-transgender-biological-male-track-field

Several members of one of the girls' shot put teams "stepped in" then "stepped out" to protest the inclusion of a transgender athlete in the meet. The transgender athlete competes in both shot put and discus throwing.

When each of the Lincoln girls had her name called to compete, she stepped into the ring but instead of throwing the shot, she stepped down and refused to participate. They did the same for the discus event.

Riley Gaines, host of the Gaines for Girls podcast on OutKick, shared her thoughts on the girls refusing to compete against a transgender opponent.

"It's a sad day when the middle school girls have to be the adults in the room. Conceding your event is so much easier said than done, but these girls have the tenacity and ability to stand their ground," Gaines said.

"I couldn't be more proud of their bravery and willingness to show their raw emotion. Girls and women have had enough."

I've just seen an article about Lynne Pinches in the Times:

Now, as the possibility of that six-figure court battle looms closer with no clear path out of the mess, Ultimate Pool could even reluctantly take the drastic measure of dissolving its women’s tours and operating with one open category.

“We’re caught between a rock and a hard place,” says Mark Quirk, who co-founded Ultimate Pool with the long-serving England pool captain Lee Kendall. “We’ve worked tirelessly to try and progress and highlight the women’s game and I think we’ve provided the biggest showcase for women’s cue sports ever. We’ve tried to do the right loving thing. What we haven’t been able to do is come to a clear-cut decision because it’s not clearly defined. That’s not our fault.”

“Well we tried to do the right thing by women out of the love and kindness in our hearts but if you ungrateful lot aren’t going to behave we’re just going to have to cancel the whole thing.”

If they chose to actually support women surely they could stand by Lynne and the 30 other women and crowd fund for the legal challenge from a cheat? They’d probably raise the funds in a heartbeat.

I've just seen this on Twatter, from Mara Yamauchi. Apparently, entirely against the rules, as transw (Glen Frank) ran the London Marathon, in the women's category.

Elite sports people speaking up!
GailBlancheViola · 23/04/2024 10:40

We watched the London Marathon on Sunday, just the elite athlete bit and we are bit taken aback and confused by the tag lines and presenters saying 'Women Only Records' and then some other guff. Wtf was all that about?

GailBlancheViola · 23/04/2024 10:41

The equivalent phrases were not used at all when talking about the men.

duc748 · 23/04/2024 12:17

AIUI 'Women only' means no male pace-makers. Woman can run faster times if they run with male pace-makers. So it's reasonable enough. But yeah, you get suspicious of everything these days! 😃

GailBlancheViola · 23/04/2024 12:29

Thanks for the explanation @duc748 it was so clumsy though and it did indeed make us suspicious.

These girls have now been banned from participating in future sporting events and looks like there is a possible law suit on the horizon.
