I have just read Mary Harrington's latest substack. Gestation in Brain-dead women

Someone has actually suggested using brain dead women to gestate fetuses. I don't care if they claim it is a thought experiment. It's a horrific idea and only lends further support to the idea that trans- anything is rooted firmly in mother hatred.

I guess I do need some of you to either tell me I am overreacting or share your own thoughts.

My daughter was on a ventilator for a while -Luckily she pulled through but the thought of some dystopian future where she’d be propped up Weekend at Bernie’s style until she was old enough to be non-consensually inseminated so that some rich bastard could have her cut open to retrieve a baby-made-to-order makes me wonder what sort of fuckery goes through some people’s heads and what went wrong with their own developmental process?

The numbers of fertile-age women who become brain dead with a body still healthy enough to gestate a fetus must be tiny and surely vital (!) organ donation should always be a priority?
Males are more likely to die young in accidents etc so there are more male organs available than female ones, and we’re seeing increasing evidence that sex matched organs make for more successful transplants. I can’t remember what the study was but don’t women and girls already have worse surgical outcomes overall (but better outcomes when they have female surgeons).

Getting pretty fucking sick of female bodies being used as an additional resource for males, yet still they come up with new ways to exploit us!

it would cost a fucking fortune to gestate a baby in a brain dead woman, so at least the unviable sums will prevent it, even if no one actually gives a moral shit about using women and selling babies...

The very few situations where a mother has died before the baby has reached few term and mother has been sustained on life support are well documented.

The woman's body deteriorates: life support is not stasis.
The body loses the ability to regulate and manage things like hormones.
A mother's body is not a bloody incubator: the body responds to the fetus with things like hormones.
The fetus's brain is stimulated in crucial ways by the movement, sounds and other input from the mother.

No, you cannot gestate in a box.

What sick bastard is visualising approaching a grieving family and asking: you know your daughter's brain dead?

Well do you mind if we inseminate her and use her body to try to grow a baby for this couple of strangers over here before we turn her off?

What in the fresh hell? How do people even have these ideas? I thought the futuristic idea of rooms full of artificial wombs was dehumanising but this is at another level!

I am relieved by these responses. I was absolutely horrified that someone could even come up with an idea like that, but maybe if others are horrified too, the world hasn't gone completely mad.

To propose this one would have to utterly disengaged from the notions of :

1. the sanctity of the human body :- see how we remember war dead in foreign cemeteries, or how we handle the victims of accidents or atrocities. We treat their bodies with reverence. The bodies of missing people- how often do we hear their loved ones say that their loss would be salved by having the body of their daughter/child/father back.
2. how baby and mother interact hormonally, & neurologically, throughout a pregnancy. A woman is not a gestation "meatstack". Instead both mother and baby are entwined in a hormonal dance. We are just in the foothills of understanding how this works.

The idea is abhorrent to me, but I see that I am going to have to engage with it, so that I can refute it as an argument.

All human life is sacred. Even the brain-dead female ones. (that I should even have to say that 😖)

Well Ireland is way ahead on this. A dead woman, bloated, rotting, pregnant, was kept alive. And I mean rotting. Took a High court case to allow the machines to be shut down. Can you imagine the toxic stuff going into her baby.

People used to adopt.

Please can more people just adopt babies! There are plenty of unwanted babies. No need for this Frankenstein freakery.

But the people wno buy designer babies to order don’t want ‘secondhand goods’!

Tbf, babies and children in the looked after system deserve far better, less selfish parents than the baby-buying type.

This would have been unthinkable in the recent past, before the world became soaked in genderism and pornography. The open contempt for women now outweighs the few restrictions the patriarchy put on misogyny.

An easy thought experiment if you don't believe women are full human beings. If you think their purpose is to support males in any which way.

However those with such distorted, misogynistic views of women, lack of thought or compassion and entitlement would likely fail the extensive screening that is done on every potential adopter.

Another reason why some prefer to commission a baby, and another reason why surrogacy is an extremely questionable thing.

OMG this is a truly appalling idea. And they could also use men to prevent it being sexist? How? Just how insane are these people?

We have become a resource for men. They cannot mine us enough. Always a new way.

How has this thought process got as far as being articulated, shared and discussed?

It shows absolutely vile contempt for women and children.

There are so many things in the world that need brainpower expending on them. This is not one.

That is how people capable of thoughts of abuse like this, who have the confidence to say it out loud, see women.

But only the body. It's only ever about using women's bodies. For validation props, sex toys, baby hatching units.

No other part of the woman is ever even acknowledged as existing.
