Thoughts about HP legacy and how TRA’s exploit vulnerable groups for their gain

If you’rea gamer you probably have heard about the attempts to boycott harry potter legacy because of JK Rowling having opinions that were not approved by the TRA’s.

Well I recently learned that the game is still feeling like hot cakes so they’ve come up with a new strategy. Now they have declared that not only is the game anti-transgender but it also has anti jewish themes! Can’t you see it? Any civilized person can tell immediately that those big bad ugly goblins look EXACTLY like jewish people! And the whole premise of the game (according to TRA’s who’ve only seen the trailer) is to fight and destroy the goblins and prevent them from successfully completing their rebellion as it is obvious (to TRA’s) that they are just fighting for their rights. DUH! Only a monster would play this game. At the very LEAST you should pirate it.

Here is a reference showing that this is an actual argument happening on the internet…
insidethemagic.net/2023/01/hogwarts-legacy-oped-trans-rights-jc1/

Anyways… reading this got me thinking. The entire shtick that TRA’s seem to default to is taking advantage of vulnerable groups and using them and their rights as a way to hoist them up… Women, POC people, LGB people, and now Jewish people… Intersex people are a big point of exploitation. They are really taking advantage of them! And I feel bad for intersex people as I imagine because of the nature of their vulnerabilities it’s just so easy and it’s hard to have a voice because of how small their community is, how private the matter must be for them and the fact that your genitals are not exactly paraded around where they are visible.

Anyways it was then while I was thinking about this I then realized that I’m a total sucker because I let them do it for years... 🙁I let them take advantage of me and my womanhood.

The more I think about it the more obvious it seems and the more I kick myself for it. They take advantage of everyone! They are just so… awful. 😑 They want to steal what others had to fight very hard for. It is a movement of jealousy and envy.

Every single one of their conversations and arguments in their favour always ALWAYS defaults back to women, LGB people, or people of colour. They used terms like bigotry, misogyny, homophobia and racism as a way to strike fear in the hearts of people. The fear that they might be discriminating.

And it’s so obvious that the jewish thing in harry potter legacy was just fabricated because they were out of ideas to argue against the game because there is literally NOTHING wrong with it!!! It is merely guilty by association. The audacity of them to use these groups to do these things is ridiculous. And can you smell how racist they sound? Literally no one thought any of those things about the goblins. They were the ones drawing similarities between jewish people and the goblins. They are the ones who are racist. They should be ashamed of themselves!

Obviously nothing shocks me about trans activists any more, but the HP stuff is still wild.
How DESPERATE they are to cancel JK

Yes they seem like such a pleasant crowd. I remember my “friends” threatening me like this. I remember the fear of worrying I would say the wrong thing. The fear of being hated. I now know I don’t have to live like that. Living in fear is no way to live. Fuck that.

Now that I am on the outside looking in I realize how fucked up it is to talk to people like that and treat them this way.

All those screenshots are so cringe. Zero self awareness on their parts. Like guys why can’t people just have fun? It’s not like the proceeds to the game are funding a war. They’re literally just finding the creators!

Is it wrong that I laughed when I read “you deserve to get hit by a car”? and then the very very reasonable response “This is not okay behaviour”. This is south park level conversations. 😂👏🏼

Just for that I’m buying the deluxe version on playstation 5! My mom wants to get it on the switch. Gonna buy it for the nieces birthday and my sisters. It’s a good game. The devs deserve to have their labor rewarded.

Aggressive bullying targeting mainly impressionable teenagers. It works as I saw with my kids repeating the lies levelled at JKR. They capture them young and it's an up hill battle.

It truly is insidious isn’t it? I feel for you and your family. They do such a remarkable job of isolating people.

I've heard that people who said that they were going to buy the game on Reddit are discovering that they're now banned on various subreddits.

That's exactly how these unhinged people see it.

They’ve been accusing her of anti-Semitism for ages.

Hoping to catch her out by asking her on Twitter if there are any Jewish students at Hogwarts her telling them Anthony Goldstein (Ravenclaw Prefect [with Padma Patil]), DA Member, survivor of Battle of Hogwarts)… not good enough! Only one! Gold - she thinks Jews are obsessed with money! Ravenclaw - what a stereotype! Thank God he wasn’t a Slytherin. All that ignores that Hogwarts is a small school of, according to Rowling herself, 600 students; & Jewish population UK is 0.5% (Ireland is 0.05%). 0.55% (yes, I know that’s not how to Maths it, shh) of 600 is 3.3, so that’s a whole 3 people for Hogwarts to reflect the demographics of the UK. But by definition it can’t, because of all the pure blood wizards. It seems probable that almost all religious students at Hogwarts would be Muggleborn; with a few half-bloods (like Anthony himself). So 2 might become the more realistic figure, at which point the reasonable assumption is surely that there’s a wee Jewish first year amongst the fainting fancies testers?

Very definitely she is also to blame for the design of the goblins in the films. Notoriously anti-Semitic, Warner Bros. Oh & definitely she is responsible for the architecture of Australia House & the choice to use it as the location for Gringotts. Because she micromanaged the whole film adaptation & could veto everything & demand it all be reshot. Also she should not have drawn on existing literary depictions of goblins.

Article here (by a Jewish woman) asking people STFU about it because it’s an antisemitic assumption to look at the goblins & leap to “Jews!” rather than, you know “bankers!”.

There are also a lot of Americans, particularly, aggrieved that a books about the UK reflect, well, the UK. And indeed the time at which they were written. The most common criticism of Cho Chang’s name is “might as well have called her a racist phrase not used in the UK”. It’s probably not a great name, really - but wizarding families apparently make some, er, interesting choices name-wise (Ronald Bilious Weasley, anyone?). It’s also possible she is of mixed heritage, hence the either Japanese or Korean first name (in the former it means butterfly, in the latter beautiful). Or she was named after someone. Or her parents were anticipating a move & wanted her to have a name that didn’t risk any confusion. But a back story to explain what I can understand might look like “it’s all Asian, good enough” would help.

Of course lots of the complaints about racism are from “fans” who’ve only seen the films. So are angry about the lack of black characters 🤦‍♀️ Lavender & Alicia’s names are massively criticised, albeit never coherently. They don’t seem to understand Kingsley Shacklebolt is called that because he’s an auror, either. Literally she’s telling the reader he’s the best auror there is - he’d be called Queenie Shacklebolt if he were (for example) a diminutive Polynesian woman 🤷‍♀️

Of course, lots of the Rowling’s a racist mob compare men who “identify as” women to black women. (Lots of tiresome stuff on “segregated washrooms” & an inability to understand that those did not exist outwith the US [unless of course one includes apartheid South Africa].)

They have no shame in appropriating the suffering of others. Literally making the Holocaust about them while demanding the removal of rights from the descendants of survivors. Over in Ireland the Director of the Rowan Trust (& which Irish charity isn’t registered in America? totally normal thing is totally normal 🤨) is after making out Far Right anti-immigration protests - which are focused on refugees & asylum seekers - are totally a threat to trans people. Not as in trans people amongst that demographic. Nope, he apparently has some kind of persecution FOMO & is really hurt the Far Right are ignoring trans people in Ireland even after all their chat about the threats & being unsafe. So rude. From which (his tweeting in a personal capacity disclaimer notwithstanding) I think we can see the Rowan Trust’s priorities & who they think the “most marginalised” are 🙄
