Another victory for common sense!

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/01/17/science-museum-trans-display-remove-propaganda-complaints/

It's 'The Telegraph' so behind a pay wall and I don't know how to archive, but the Science Museum in London has removed its display about things trans (including binders and fake penii) after complaints about propaganda.

Well done to all who made their feelings known.

12ft.io/ will help with the paywall.

thank fuck.

crunchermuncher · 17/01/2023 22:56

Good. It's the audience museum, not the political propaganda museum or even the sociology museum. Totally inappropriate.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 17/01/2023 22:56

Good. Inch by bloody inch we're having to return organisations to representing facts and science - not the dubious demands of an ideology. .

crunchermuncher · 17/01/2023 22:57

Oh ffs! Science not audience !

Shelefttheweb · 17/01/2023 22:59

Hmm, they will say they are just rejigging displays- it has been up at least 6 months. I saw it and was disgusted by it.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 17/01/2023 23:10

Well thank goodness for that, although how it ever got in there in the first place beggars belief!

Rightsraptor · 17/01/2023 23:15

I have been to a propaganda museum, an actual one, which was in a country which had been riven by wars (not surprisingly, you may think). It's odd that we are introducing such discord into our museums when these islands are notable for their lack of rampaging hoards appearing on the horizon. Or not for many long years, at least.

It all feels so 'foreign' to me, such imported strife - looking at you, California.

Anyway, off to bed.

"Complaints were lodged by Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, who wrote to the museum’s chairman Sir Ian Blatchford to argue that the display “promotes social and medical transition in a way that is not neutral”."

I bloody love that woman.
