LK has placed herself firmly in this camp for years to earn head pats from the rainbow community. That's her TV USP - her brand is gossipy and down to earth, 'one of the girls' but also a sort of cosy mum/best friend figure to gay men and drag queens. Her tinkly-laugh, be-kind simper has wide appeal.
But she needs to be very careful now.
Too many women KNOW that a man in a women's toilet is a threat. Most women are not comfortable with the thought of their daughters - perhaps just gaining independence as teens, or finding their feet in the world as young women - encountering strong, large, male-bodied people in station toilets late at night, when out with their friends in shopping centres or in pubs or clubs when they might have been drinking. Women KNOW, OFTEN FROM EXPERIENCE that this is dangerous. They don't want those real, evidence based concerns hand-waved away by a TV personality who is paid millions to appear ordinary while never having to worry about the risks she's minimising.
But I suspect she won't change. As unclebuck says, she's Izzard's bff and has fawned over Munroe, Lees, Shon Faye and most of the rest of them at some time or other. I just wish she'd be honest enough to come right out and declare herself an MRA.
