A not entirely surprising judgement - though GLP are challenging:

I find him very very creepy to be honest

mrshoho · 16/01/2023 18:10

Fools with their gold and all that. There are millions of us languishing on lengthening waiting lists for important nhs medical treatment. Why do some people think they should be prioritised over others.

WhiteFire · 16/01/2023 18:11

I hope our resident tell-er-off-er will be off to tell all the donators that they have wasted their money.

littleburn · 16/01/2023 18:22

Really lost? Or just lost at 'a deeply technical level'? 😁

Metabigot · 16/01/2023 19:03

Trust the TRAs to turn the NHS crisis affecting wait times for all into a trans discrimination issue and glad the judge saw sense.

I'd much rather life saving treatment / disability preventing was prioritised if there is pressure on resources

The entitlement of these activists to bring a discrimination claim is staggering.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 16/01/2023 20:17

It's such a shame about the GLP. They could be a genuine force for good - even with largely unwinnable cases, bringing public and media attention to government corruption and failings could be worth doing. But getting bogged down in the ridiculous personal-crusade stuff (and battering foxes) means people are less likely to take the actually important cases seriously.

I wonder what proportion of the youngsters will look back on the waiting time with gratitude as they mature?

I don’t know about proportion but I suspect it will be high. On the Gender: Wider Lens podcast interview with the Dutch detransitioner Teiresias he talks about how, with delays of Covid and so on, he decided to stop transitioning just a few weeks before he got his scheduled date for genital surgery.

I have great suspicion of men who want to help children rush through surgery like this.

MiladeeBeserko · 16/01/2023 20:46

I think he has a nice house in London with chickens.

Those free range eggs would be an interesting cost benefit analysis / risk assessment what with the price of baseball bats, kimonos and failure to achieve anything.

MorvenOfMalvern · 17/01/2023 09:02

The whole thing is so nonsensical.

TRAs spend as much time arguing that being Trans is not to be medicalised or pathologised or gatekept. There is no justification for suggestion that Trans people need counselling, MH support, to see doctors or be 'treated' as there is nothing 'wrobg' with them that ends fixing. I W on national TV said that viewing being Trans as something 'wrong' or an illness '(sickess' was the word I think) was an old-fashioned view.

They also claim they are uniquely discriminated against by lack of access to NHS care, that it is vital they have prompt and free 'treatnent' of any of their many trans related issues, many of which lack any evidence base and ensure a lifelong need for ever increasing care. Basically, "whatever I want, when I want it, just because"

Given how many people I know right now who are being left months on "2 week wait" cancer pathways, and the fact that we have multiple excess deaths every week from lack of timely ambulance and emergency care, how on earth could they win this case?

ReunitedThorns · 17/01/2023 09:27

People are wrong about Jolylon, he doesn't care about the actual causes, he's just after the crowd-funding paying his salary and picking particular cases that he knows will generate a lot of money. He's a grifter.

Shelefttheweb · 17/01/2023 09:39

Was this the case where the judge had to tell him to work out what they were actually wanting to argue about because they didn’t seem to have worked out what it was?

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 17/01/2023 10:29

I think that over time he's become this, it's all too easy to crowdfund large amounts of money for cases which don't stand a chance of winning.
I think in the long run he'll do more harm than good for the trans cause by clarifying the law by judgements made against them - not in the way they hoped.

popebishop · 31/07/2023 17:22

Didn't know they were doing this but good to hear.

I'll say it again, I don't understand why this group of people are so insistent that e.g. man-gendered people should have male (or approximating male) bodies. Isn't that hugely old-fashioned, and anti-trans?

Chersfrozenface · 31/07/2023 17:26

Does anyone have a list of cases and appeals that GLP have won and lost, in two columns? I would love to see it

As you wish.

Luckily someone has done exactly that for the Good Scam project. The cases in red were defeated i.e most of them. Two images one up to Dec 2022 the second shows till the start of July so doesn't include the latest defeat.

To be honest the scam is a real winner for our side imagine if the TRAs gave their money to competent lawyers. Instead they are paying for new kimonos. Joylon in fact has handled the cases so badly that it has brought a bunch of new evidence to light which has undermined Mermaids further. Plus Judges are getting more and more irritated by their nonsense so their cases inevitably are looked dimly on before they start.

If we are handing out prizes to TRAs who self sabotage they are surely in the running.

If you are interested in exactly how much money the scam has made plenty more stats and charts here.
https://labourpainsblog.com/2023/01/03/good-law-project-not-lookin-like-a-true-survivor/

Altogether the scam has got over 11 million pounds through crowdfunding.

Thank you very much. I may print those out and put them in pretty frames.

OvaHere · 31/07/2023 18:08

Is there a link anywhere to the court decision?

PronounssheRa · 31/07/2023 18:10

I don't think the people who contribute to GLP do it because they think there is a good chance of success, I think they have to be driven ideologically.

OvaHere · 31/07/2023 18:12

Thanks

highame · 31/07/2023 18:18

At some point, will the Judiciary decide these cases are vexatious and force the GLP to take a more considered approach to litigation. Perhaps the funders are zealots and really don't care if cases are lost?

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 31/07/2023 18:21

They keep arguing that trans is not a MH condition, at pains to state that and offensive to those with MH conditions imo, so why should there be any NHS treatment at all. If it isn't a medical condition then surgeries are cosmetic and should be treated as such
