Saw this youtube video the other day and loved it.

It was the only commentary to that appalling John Oliver "trans rights" video that didn't come either from US conservative/republican household names (all males) or Chloe Cole (plus hers was 5min only - and this one touches every single point made in the original JO's monologue).

Started listening at 1.5x speed as a "podcast", but then saw that the screenshots during the video are unmissable.

Felt like sharing, hope it's ok, and that it's not "so yesterday". Even if JO's video is from October, the discussion (and the same points used by transactivists) is not outdated.

Thank you. I think the responses to JO in the video are brilliantly set out and explained. It’s one of the best things arguing against trans ideology I’ve ever seen. I have bookmarked it to keep for reference.

By the way, her is a mini documentary about the little Texan boy Kai (mentioned in what you posted) who was transed by his mother.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=cuIkLNsRtas

He did not like typically boy things like his older brothers aged 2, 3.

She thought, “Oh my God is he going to be gay?” She prayed and beat him ( he was 3). Then when he began to say he wanted to die “Go to Jesus”, she relented and decided he was really a girl and transed him officially.

When he was 2,3 he did not like things his older brothers had.

JFC I have not seen this, just about to watch, not sure if I want to, that's incredibly upsetting

Blocked and Reported have an episode on the John Oliver and Jon Stewart trans episodes. Herzog and Singal are very educated on this topic as it was writing articles that raised questions about the TRA narrative that initially led to the attempts to cancel them.

IcakethereforeIam · 14/01/2023 17:45

Thanks, watched it. Wish I could get everyone to see it. That poor child.

That was an excellent episode, recommended listening.

I find the little laughs John Oliver does so infuriating. He's spouting such illogical rubbish with no critical thinking at all and then does those incredulous laughs as if to say 'how stupid are you people for not believing that this little boys with long hair is actually a girl and actually believes what he is saying?'

Witchofthekitchen · 14/01/2023 21:11

I used to enjoy watching John Oliver years ago. I don’t know whether its because my eyes are open now to certain things or if he’s changed in tone over the past few years but I can’t stand his show anymore. He’s just so self righteous in that sort of ‘anyone who thinks differently to me is a bigot’ kind of way. Can’t watch him anymore, which is a shame because in the past he’s covered some interesting and important topics.

Now it’s all just down the rabbit hole and zero critical thinking.

Same.

How can he clearly see any other topic but this one.

You can see him frothing in his own self righteous fury at women who won't pander to the gender zealots.

I often wonder how Kai is doing and if he's now on hormones.

I haven't seen any account of a 'trans child' that isn't based on sex stereotypes.
That includes the ITV drama 'Butterfly' which was hailed as a breakthrough in what it means to be trans.

ScrollingLeaves · 14/01/2023 23:09

I just tried looking and think Kai and younger brother and mother have just moved out of Texas. It is against the law to give puberty blockers there, and children can be removed from their parents, but maybe puberty blockers will be the next step now.

Vogue also made a short video about Kai and put her on the cover looking very sweet and pretty. She has been celebrated all over and plans to be an actress. Her mother now seems to advocate for gay people too.

Thanks for this video. I like James Oliver in general, but I didn't watch this one, as I expected it would be terrible. And it is.

After the reply video, I looked more into case Kai and found this. The mother tells their story. It is so clear that this case was driven by homophobia and stereotypes. Nothing else was needed.

Having it from her own keyboard makes it feel even worse. It isn't a conspiration theory of TERF, it is just a reality they live.

I know it is sad.

It seems clear though that she truly believes her preferred interpretation of her child most certainly being trans, rather than just sensitive, unusual, and more feminine than her other sons - and a child who might, perhaps, grow up to be gay one day.

Now that Kai is 11 or 12 and a celebrity as a girl, and thinking of herself as a girl, how can there be any going back for her?

This is a video documentary about Kai when she young.

KateFromTheInternet · 25/01/2023 11:47

Exactly! Thanks for this link. I shared one on Twitter a while ago, it was a gaming youtuber (playing games, you can´t see his face) commenting on a "profile" video about Kai and his family in a big channel, and I can´t find the big channel. It´s not this one, but this one is also super helpful. And the article too! Really horrific parents.

I wonder how many other children are growing up confused about their real sex, having been lied to, possibly drugged with hormones, and
manipulated by their homophobic or sexist, and possibly abusive parents?

At least in the U.K. it is not yet like parts of the U.S.A , Canada, and Australia.

I keep seeing it on TikTok, MUMS videos about transing their kids and teens. Just for the narcissism. Really disturbing. I´m shown videos in different languages, and a few were in Spanish.

I believe Spain had gone nuts too. I remember seeing a women’s March there about a year ago trying to protest.
