Want to be considered for a best actress award? Stop pretending to be a woman!

Everything I've read about Emma D'Arcy has made me eyeroll hard enough to injure myself, but I think this time I may have done permanent damage.

www.yahoo.com/entertainment/house-dragon-emma-darcy-says-010622755.html

Emma can't help but notice that Emma found success only after Emma stopped "pretending" to be a woman, and isn't it "beautifully ironic" that Emma got nominated for a best actress award.

Oh and no fancy frock for Emma because Emma is non-binary. Emma was "doing trans", because Emma wore trousers and a skirt at the same time. "And nothing says non-binary like wearing both a skirt and trousers." My mind is blown - not only did I lose all sense of style in the noughties when I wore dresses over jeans, I actually cast off the shackles of womanhood too!

The article is taken from this interview. Oh the rage. Silly silly young rich women that don't have a clue how important their sex is. They'll find out one day.

My theory fwiw is we don't have awesome music to rally our identities around at the moment which where NBs step in.

Plus the huge pressures to perform femininity - look at the beauty aesthetics industry. It takes a long time for women to feel comfortable in their own skin and realise that norms are bullshit - I personally went through many years of this and numerous helpful men telling me I wasn't a typical woman (I'd tell them to f off now).

These women are talented and intelligent, they have their shit together and even they are falling for the stereotypes trap

Can't remember exactly what I said to figure out which was the problematic bit that got my comment deleted. But I did also try to say @Chersfrozenface that I 100% got what you meant, and no apology was necessary. :)

I went to a wedding in a trouser suit once - does that make me non-binary? ;-)

In other news, the woman refereeing the Scarlets against CHE (it's in Welsh and I'm not sure) in Welsh club rugby union is doing a bang up job!

Wandering a bit off topic, the Scarlets were playing the Cheetahs in the European Challenge Cup.

I went to my own wedding in a trouser suit, I guess that makes me….. a married woman?

Oops, I'm sorry, husband left it on in the background! It was a wander but....that woman was very clearly a woman and very competent and in charge in a man's game so it struck me that you don't have to opt out of womanhood to do that.

Maerchentante · 14/01/2023 09:01

It's all so "Look at me, look at me, why won't you look at meeeeee?"

Strangely enough, Emma doesn't seem upset that Emma was nominated in a gendered category. I wonder why that is.

Just recently came across a class photo taken in the mid 90's at my school in Germany. We all wore fairly baggy jeans and baggy sweat shirts, girls and boys. Some girls had short hair, some boys long hair. Does that mean we were all "non-binary"?

I think 'nothing says non-binary like wearing a skirt and trousers' might be one of the most sexist, regressive thing I've heard come out of these people's mouths! Up there with gold. lamè handbag.

I love Emma's style and is such a shame that she thinks that the fact she doesn't like dresses means she's not a woman - unless she doesn't think that at all andnon binary is just a good USP.

Well, quite. Couldn't agree more.
