Give me a child when they are 7 and I will give you the they/them. “Told in Clara’s inimitable style, this series has so many wonderful ingredients: family, friends and dogs! But weaved inbetween the pages is an added layer of belonging and understanding, with non-binary representation. Clara is the master of storytelling for young readers and I couldn’t be happier to see this on our list.” Yeah, you 'weave' that stuff in, Clara, let your sexist, homophobic ideology seep into their young and very malleable brains when they're not even aware of what you're doing to them.

There's an Instagram blogger who has socially transitioned one of her sons, publicly, on Instagram since he was a toddler. Multiple posts about being the parent of a "trans child," an ally and how anyone concerned is a bigot and evil and out to get them. She does sponsored posts of matchy dress reveals with her "daughter" and the brothers wear the matching "boy" outfits. It's as stereotyped and regressive as it comes, an appalling one-way street for the v young child (who is often quoted discussing what the impact of any critical bigots is on them...so clearly being raised exposed to the idea that they are in danger etc) and presumably not without some serious confusion for the siblings too..

Why brands work with this family, and not a single professional involves themselves is absolutely beyond comprehension.

Oh yes, "he" has a younger sibling who referred this sister and a teacher corrected him to brother!!!! He knows she's his sister stop lying to him.

FrancescaContini · 13/01/2023 08:28

I would remove my children from such a school. No way would I be playing along with these parents’ delusions or be happy for my own children to have to do so too.

Shame on these teachers for their collusion in this. Where are their brains?

Petitions are not allowed on this board.

Thank you Scrolling. Have just signed.

DD wants to do RE as one her GCSEs and she's mentioned to me a few times that she disagrees with the pronoun craze but worries about being branded "a bad person" if she gets it wrong. To the point where she's been avoiding friends' friends because it makes her so anxious. She's ND. She could do with not having to avoid anyone. it's hard enough as it is.

SleekMamma · 13/01/2023 08:53

Signed the petition thanks for the link
I bought my DD school library a copy of My body & me by Rachel Rooney.

That is a really nice idea to have bought it for your DD’s school.

@MorvenOfMalvern that's child abuse. The child is being used as a prop for the mother's fantasy/lifestyle/career. How old is the child? Can you report to social services and encourage others to?

@ScrollingLeaves

Funnily enough, I’ve seen quite a lot of y’all need Jesus responses to TRAs 😂

😆
I think a lot of it probably may be trying to fill human emptiness with a belief in something beyond the traps of everyday life, like a new religion based around the body.

NitroNine · 13/01/2023 14:10

@ScrollingLeaves

In all seriousness, there are a lot of elements that are similar to religion; & we know that human, as a species, need something to believe in. Atheism itself is a system of belief - the tautologous-sounding belief in disbelief, but it’s still there.

Link3 · 13/01/2023 16:58

NitroNine · 12/01/2023 23:57

I don’t know if it’d be helpful or if it’s purely hagiographical, but “Saint Brigid and Other Amazing Irish Women” has just been published & the author won’t have done anything like that with it @Link3.

Thank you. I will check it out.

stickygotstuck · 13/01/2023 21:12

Thank you for the clarification Scrolling.

Fingers crossed, I don't think DD herself will be swayed to embrace the ideology, because, in her words, it 'just doesn't make sense'- and that's a positive side to Autism right there. But she feels the need to pretend to go along to avoid upsetting people or being ostracised - and there's the negative side, in the form of more masking and anxiety.

The way I view pronouns is similar to you - there is no need to declare whether you like, say, pear drops every time you introduce yourself.

And yes, I agree that gender ideologly is one of the things that has taken the place of religion. Sometimes I wish people went back to it, so much more straightforward in a sense.

YouSetTheTone · 14/01/2023 09:50

So Clara V’s message is: if you (a child) step outside of narrow stereotypes you are indeed ‘different’ and will end up being put on a pathway to surgical amendments to your healthy body? But we must sprinkle glitter and unicorns over this pathway like it’s a trail from the Wardrobe to Narnia?

She's got 22k followers on her Insta. Most praise her...

I've got no idea where she lives or what her name is

IvyTwines · 27/02/2023 09:49

Cover 'reveal', cue lots of simpering congratulations on Twitter, including one from a 'vegan cat' mother: "I spy the NB badge! Definitely on the shopping list for my 8yo!". That's Clara and the book industry's target demographic for this. It's aimed at young children.

Oh that's awful. Indoctrinating children into their fascistic ideology.

HagoftheNorth · 27/02/2023 11:03

So this book is aimed at people who believe their children can choose their ‘gender’ (whatever that is), or worse, parents can choose it for them, and their cats can stay healthy eating a vegan diet…
So good to see people breaking the chains of reality to express their authentic selves 🙄 (that emoji has been very busy recently!)

FunnyTalks · 27/02/2023 12:34

Oh how could I possibly ever guess which character is the non binary one? Someone please help me out here!

Also, grrrr, on behalf of dogs everywhere. Dogs are TERFs, all of them. Get over it.

This is evil. 7 year old children. I could weep.

It truly is evil. I can't wait for this insane ideology to go out of fashion, and for the legal cases to start. But the generation of children who have been raised in these beliefs ....

Holdmypint · 27/02/2023 13:41

If I still had DC in primary school, I would be furious if they encountered this book.

IvyTwines · 27/02/2023 16:20

"It truly is evil. I can't wait for this insane ideology to go out of fashion, and for the legal cases to start. But the generation of children who have been raised in these beliefs ...." I think that's why she's so desperate to recruit others into the ideology - safety in numbers: "Don't blame me, every parent was doing it in the 2010s and 2020s!"

I have been thinking how the religious idea of having a soul which is always the most precious part of you, allows for a sense of self that is beyond being either male nor female. Meanwhile, the feeling that you were wanted by a creator as you are is a help too.

That's certainly not going to work in Christianity, where souls aren't complete unless they are attached to a body - and the soul is what makes the body the sex it is. They form a real unity, that's one of the characteristic features of the religion. (And I think you can say the same for Judaism and possibly Islam as well.)

Looks like my hope is misplaced:

twitter.com/leah_v_owen/status/1581195203662475265

Leah Owen is Clara Vulliamy's daughter, and her pinned tweet says that she has published a scholarly article "examining intersections between anti-trans and genocidal ideologies".

The other day I was listening to Jonathan Freedland talk on a podcast about his new book about the Holocaust, and I don't think I can even begin to express how offensive it is to compare what the Nazis did to the Jews with feminists' concerns about trans activism.

Oh dear 😬

The soul/spirit is beyond gender, animates the body and is in a unity with it. While a person is alive it is attached to the body, but is the most important part of a person, and it is immortal.
